The article talks about how people were made to believe in the olden days that the
inclusion of synthetic fertiliser products would help all plants prosper. However,
these products tend to replenish nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus in the soil.
it further explains the importance of omega- 3 oils which is rapidly declining from
our food and how it can lead to diseases like cancer and A lzheimer’s disease.
Finally it advises readers to purchase manure from local farms since the retailers
make their manure from cows, horses, poultry and pigs. These animals are only able
to make nutrient-rich manure if their food source is rich. This will cause therefore
herbivores raised in defleted soil will likewise produce inferior manure which
wouldn't be good for the soil.
Analysis
I came to the conclusion that this article doesn't take into account the how the use
of npk+CaCO3 has being around and always used by farmers in the mist
commercially farmed soil. This based on the Victorian investigations into soil nutrient
and how the method hasn't changed for so many years.

The article gives a detailed insight to how a person can live longer. It starts off with
a point that shows how the bad habits of people limit their lifetime. Example is a
mother drinking heavily during pregnancy which may lead to the child having a long-term
learning disability and physical problems.
However, it suggests that being exposed to sunlight is very important to our health
since it's a good source of vitamin D. Also staying socially active is an important
factor because studies shows loneliness has found that social isolation is associated
with higher rate of death in older people and loneliness is the hidden killer of the
elderly.
Finally, the writer concludes by stating that ageing is in our DNA. According to him
studies have revealed that longer telomeres have been linked with a longer lifespan

telomeres can also be inherited by the next generation.

The article views how people who lived in the 60s were 3 times less heavy than
people today. This isn’t due the amount of exercise we do or the food but because
we unwittingly became sugar addicts. It goes on to explain how during the 1800s,
the first obese person in Britain weighed 53st (335kg) and was considered a medical
oddity. However, 200 years later the amount of weight considered obese is 3 times
more compared to before. An example is the recent case of 63st teenager Georgia
Davis.
The article asks the question why are fat? The reason is not because of people
became greedier as a race however a 12- year study which began in 2000 at
Plymouth hospital shows that children’s physical activity hasn’t since 50 years ago.
Therefore what could be the cause of the sudden increase in obesity? Here, they
finally concluded that amount of sugar which is used to manufacture our food is to
be blame for it.
Comparison between the articles
Reading through the three articles, I came across a number of similarities in the way
they are written and presented. The first article talks about how the use of synthetic
manure in our modern era is having a huge damage on the food we eat. It however
ignores the fact that although the use of synthetic products are common these days,
the use of Npk + CaCO3 on our soil have been there since the last 50 years. This
clearly shows how just a little research was done for this article and can't be fully
trusted although it addresses the importance of some minerals that are lost due to
this process of synthetic manuring. The topic for the article states "How to live
longer” meaning it's going to give some steps he believes might a person to have a
longer lifespan. Linking this to the first article that states “How fertilizers are
destroying our soil and food” one can notice the obvious similarity which is both
articles are very opinionated. However the “health wyze” article seems to be a bit

3. more in depth than the one from BBC Science because it’s somehow supported by
scientist opinion.
The third one however looks more accurate with support statistics. It gives you an
insight of how bigger companies like Coca cola misuse their influence to by taking
the shorter way to make profit.
