14. Loon knew, Alejandro knew, even Oriole knew now. Chickadee couldn't put off this
phone call any longer, but he was at work now and hopefully too busy to take her
call. It'd be easier to just leave a message.
15. “Hello, you've reached Mockingbird's cell. I'm busy right now, so please leave a
message. Beeeeep.”
18. Chickadee hung up the phone. It was too late to take it back now.
She breathed a sigh of- relief that she'd gotten it over with? She wasn't quite sure.
19. Unable to sleep, Chickadee started cleaning the windows. But unfortunately, while
that distracted her body, it didn't distract her mind, which was free to worry.
20. She sighed and brought her hand back to her side. There was no use worrying
about Mockingbird's reaction now, or what her family would do now that they knew.
She ought to get some rest.
21. The doctors had said they thought there was a good chance Rosemary would
survive. That had been the first good news Ethan had heard since he'd heard the
shot.
22. A police officer had interrogated him earlier today, but had been disappointed to learn
how little he actually knew about the situation.
23. She promised they'd do the best they could. But I knew it was unlikely the shooter
would be caught anytime sooner.
24. If they had some suspects, it'd be different. They could tell what type of gun had shot
her by the bullet hole, and see if any of the suspects had that type of gun. But I
couldn't think of any suspects.
27. Waiting for her to wake up. Waiting for the criminal to be caught. Waiting for this
nightmare to be over.
28. “Do you have any idea who might have had the motive to shoot Rosemary?”
29. “I'd say Opal, but she's a witch so she wouldn't need a gun.”
30. “Uh... let's see.. There's this guy, what's his name, who doesn't really like our
family... I can't remember. You should ask Chrysanthemum what his name was.”
31. “You mean Nathan? Yeah, his descendants are probably still out to get us. But I'd
think kidnapping a baby would be more their style.”
32. “Rosemary did have one overly jealous ex, but that seems a bit drastic, even for
him... His name was Ian.”
33. That was there list of subjects so far- random guesses from a couple close family
members, that they didn't seem to believe themselves. Since Chrysanthemum didn't
seem to know who Nathan's descendants might be, that left Ian and Opal.
34. “Hello, Dorian? How's the detective work going?”
“Opal doesn't have any guns. As for Ian, his place looks abandoned, and I can't find
any guns but his closet is full of pictures of Rosemary... And I think some of them
were taken after they broke up.”
35. “Really? See if you can find out where he is. I think he might be our man.”
36. Tosha dialed Keiran's number. This was the only way she could think of to find
Venus.
37. “Hello Keiran. I need to ask a favor of you... See if you can find anyone in your
college by the name of Venus, or with blue skin.” After all, Opal might've changed
her name.
