Black macaque Luis lives in mountainous tropical rain forests on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. They eat berries, grains, leaves, insects, small animals, and fruits. Black macaques live in family troops and defend their territory, with both male and female macaques responsible for family duties. They are an endangered species threatened by loss of habitat and some subspecies have short or no tails.
