Dr. Seuss, born Theodor Seuss Geisel, was inspired to write children's books by his mother's rhyming lullabies. He grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts, and drew from his hometown and childhood experiences for many of his stories. Some of his most famous books include Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat. Over his career, Dr. Seuss wrote over 60 books and won numerous awards, becoming one of the most popular children's authors of all time.
