LSD is a powerful hallucinogenic drug that was discovered in 1938. It interrupts communication between nerve cells and can distort visual judgment, moods, and feelings. Physical side effects include dilated pupils, changes in body temperature, sweating or chills, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, and tremors. Mentally, LSD can cause fear of losing control, terrifying thoughts, fear of insanity or death, delusions, and panic attacks. Long term use of LSD has been linked to losing possessions, relationships, and employment as well as depression. Treatment options include medical treatment, therapy, learning coping tools, and rehabilitation.
