This document discusses a DIY 3D printer kit called the MakerBot CupCake CNC. It is much cheaper than commercial 3D printers, with a DIY kit available for RM 2630 (US$750) or a pre-assembled version for RM 8766 (US$2500). The 3D printer uses plastic as a raw material and works by laying down layers to build three-dimensional objects from CAD files, similar to a standard printer. It is designed to be open source and mod-friendly for users.
