Leading the LTE IoT evolution to connect the massive Internet of ThingsQualcomm Research
Connecting the IoT—and virtually everything—requires wireless technologies that can scale up to high-performance IoT but also scale down to low complexity IoT application needs. LTE with its global footprint and scale will play a key role in connecting the IoT, and continues to evolve to also address the massive, wide-area, low-power, low-complexity IoT applications. In 3GPP Release 13, two complementary narrowband technologies – eMTC & NB-IoT – were introduced to reduce complexity, lower power consumption, deepen coverage, and increase user density. In 2017, commercial LTE IoT is starting to connect the massive IoT, and it will become an essential part of the 5G Platform, which initially focuses on enhanced mobile broadband. Its rich roadmap will further enhance efficiencies, bring new capabilities, and expand into unlicensed spectrum to meet tomorrow’s massive IoT needs.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing industries, products, and core capabilities by delivering dramatically enhanced experiences. However, the deep neural networks of today are growing quickly in size and use too much memory, compute, and energy. Plus, to make AI truly ubiquitous, it needs to run on the end device within a tight power and thermal budget.
Fundamental research, in AI as well as applying that research, is required to advance AI further and speed up adoption. In this presentation, learn how:
* Several research topics across the entire spectrum of AI, such as generalized CNNs and deep generative models
* AI model optimization research for power efficiency, including compression, quantization, and compilation
* Advances in AI research to make AI ubiquitous

Over the last year, the industry has made tremendous progress towards making 5G NR a reality with Qualcomm leading the way. We have completed the first release of 3GPP 5G NR specifications, we are set to kick-off 3GPP-compliant 5G NR trials, and we are accelerating global 5G NR enhanced mobile broadband commercial deployments to start in 2019.
But yet there still remains a decent amount of mystery and skepticism around 5G NR. What exactly is 5G NR? What technologies and use cases will see first and why? Are wide-scale 2019 mobile deployments really possible? And what will the evolution of 5G NR bring beyond 2019?

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Lower latency with edge computing
Part of 5G advantages are already available thanks
to Edge Computing Technology.
Edge Computing is a new concept for server comupting.
It is not located in a remote, centralized data center,
but close – on the Edge of the cellular network,
near the end user.
7
Edge Computing benefits:
○ increase the capacity – e.g AR/VR
○ increase data security – e.g enterprise cloudlets
○ decrease latency – e.g remote robot control
