2. Overview
LOVE ISLAND is the sizzling summer series based on
the international smash hit and cultural phenomenon.
The matchmaking begins as a group of single
“Islanders” come together in a stunning villa in
Mallorca, Spain, ready to embark on a summer of
dating, romance, and ultimately, relationships.
Over the course of a 6-7 week period, a bunch of singles
will attempt to find love and become the ultimate
couple and gain the votes and likeability of the British
public.
3. Camera
During the course of each episode, there are many
different types of shot and movement to portray the
intensity or calmness of a certain situation between
certain individuals or groups. For example, during a
recoupling on the show, there are quick switches
between close ups, two shots, long shots and mid shots
to show everyone’s reactions.
These range of camera angles and movement allow
different moods and contrasts to be created and allow
tension and the intensities to rise.
4. MISEENSCENE
Costume – To create a sexy vibe and atmosphere on the show, the
producers ensure that every participant are hot singles that wear the
best looking swimming costumes such as bikinis and shorts to show of
the entirety of their bodies and attract people towards them and
attract more audiences to the singles.
Props – throughout each episode, may props are used such as sex
props, microphones, sunbeds, etc to create an atmosphere around love
and wanting each other.
Lighting – The lighting is generally very bright throughout the day
with the sun shining for most of the show, but the lighting changes to
completely dark and the night vision cameras come into action at
night to again create a loving, saucy atmosphere for couples to
hopefully fall in love with each other.
Location – It is typically set in Mallorca, Spain or in South Africa to
ensure that it is a hot country so that the singles can express
themselves and their bodies in the most sexy and passionate way
possible.
5. SOUND
Throughout the titles, there is a pleonastic non-diegetic
theme tune that is easily identified and iconic. It has an
upbeat theme to entice the audience and make the show
sound exciting and a dramatic show.
Throughout the episode, there is a voiceover from the voice
of Iain Stirling who almost commentates each event from
every day. This allows the audience to understand each
situation and is a very key part to how the TV Show runs.
It is also an iconic aspect of the show.
Lastly, throughout the show, there is also pleonastic sound
effects such as a text ding whenever one of the contestants
get a text that tells them information regarding the show.

6. EDITING
Throughout the entirety of the show, there is a very fast
pace to the editing and titles to portray an action-
packed series and to intensify any dramas that may
occur.
The position of the camera in many of the scenes are to
emphasise a participant's power over another
participant or fast paced cross cuts to again intensify
the drama that is unfolding.
Many transitions also occur to allow for different scenes
in different rooms to be seen clearly and emphasise the
scenes to the maximum.
