FIAT PANDA 2008 MODEL
Within the music video, there will be two negative flashback shots that take place within a car. The car I have
chosen to use for this purpose is my own car to ensure that it will be easily accessible during the filming
process. In pop music videos, the cars featured are typically expensive, modern, and often convertible to
convey the success / lifestyle of the artist. However, due to having a very limited production budget and
limited access to these types of vehicle, it has not been possible to obtain a car that would be considered
conventional. Although the chosen car will not be conventional, it may make the video more authentic, as both
the artist and his ex-girlfriend are young, and therefore would be unlikely to own a car of this kind anyway.
YETMINSTER RAILWAY STATION AND BRIDGE
Within the music video, a sequence corresponding with the bridge section of the track, a number of performance
shots, and a number of flashback shots necessary to the narrative will be filmed at a railway station. My chosen
station is Yetminster railway station not only because it will be easily accessible to both myself and the two actors,
but because it’s a village train station, and is therefore less frequently used than one located in a town or city. As a
result, it’s much less likely that filming will be interrupted by the presence of trains or commuters. A further
advantage of this particular station is that the platform is directly connected to a railway bridge, which will be a key
part of the railway location within the video. Although lighting on the platform should not be an issue due to the
presence of a large, brightly lit, street-lamp, the bridge will not be lit by existing lights, and therefore lighting may
prove problematic in shots filmed there. A further disadvantage of this location is that, due to its rural location, it
would not be considered conventional to the pop genre, which typically features modern/urban settings. Despite
this, if the shots are filmed correctly, it may be impossible to tell that the station is not in an urban area, and
therefore it won’t seem unconventional when viewing the video.

SYDNEY GARDENS
Within the music video, a positive flashback sequence will be filmed in a park location. My chosen location is
Sydney Gardens, a park close to the home of the male and female actors who will be starring within the video.
Sydney Gardens is a naturally beautiful location that can be easily accessed by both myself and the two actors. As
can be seen from the picture above, the trees are currently bare, and the ground is covered in dead leaves due to
the season, and therefore the ideal season/setting for a picnic is not correctly conveyed. However, it may be
possible to frame the shots so that it will not be possible for the audience to determine the exact season. If this is
not possible, I will look to adjust this flashback sequence within the video.
STREET LOCATIONS
Within the music video, a number of performance shots of the artist will be filmed in street locations. The
exact streets to be used within the video are yet to be finalised, but they will be located in the Yetminster
and Yeovil areas so that they are easily accessible to both myself and the two actors starring in the video.
When choosing street locations, it will not only be ensured that only those with street lights are used so that
problems with lighting are less likely, but I will select streets that are relatively unused in the
afternoon/evening so that filming is not interrupted by cars and/or passers-by.
MALE PROTAGONIST’S HALLWAY
Within the music video, a number of performance shots, as well as a sequence of flashback shots necessary to
the narrative, will be filmed in a hallway. My chosen hallway belongs to the female actress starring within the
video, and therefore it will be easy to access this location when filming. A major advantage of using this
particular hallway within the music video is that it’s considerably longer than a standard hallway due to the size
of her house. As a result, it will be ideal for filming shots of the artist as he walks along it performing the track.
Although this will be a suitable location, it does have its disadvantages. For example, it may be difficult to light
the hallway appropriately whilst filming in the late afternoon/early evening as the only available light fittings
are ceiling lights. In addition to this, the décor used within the hallway would not be considered conventional
to the pop genre, and therefore I will again have to ensure that shots filmed here are framed to show as little of
the décor as possible.

MALE PROTAGONIST’S LIVING ROOM
Within the music video, a number of performance shots, as well as a sequence of flashback shots necessary to
the narrative, will be filmed in a living room setting. My chosen living room belongs to the female actress
starring in the video, and therefore this location will be easily accessible when filming. Further advantages of
this location choice are that the room is spacious, meaning that there will be plenty of room for filming
equipment and ease of movement, and it contains a large sofa, which is a key element of mise-en-scene within
the video. Although this is a suitable location in which to film, the large Christmas tree displayed in the window
is a undesirable element. As it will not be possible to move the tree, I will have to ensure when filming that it
doesn’t appear within the framing of any of the shots.
MALE PROTAGONIST’S KITCHEN
Within the music video, a number of performance shots, as well as a sequence of flashback shots necessary to the
narrative, will be filmed in a kitchen setting. My chosen kitchen belongs to the female actress starring within the video,
and therefore it will be easily accessible when filming. In addition to this, the large window and row of countertops at the
end of the kitchen is almost exactly what I wanted in terms of mise-en-scene, further making this an ideal location to use
within the video. The only downside of using this particular kitchen as the location is that the décor is quite rustic in
style, and is therefore dissimilar to the modern décor usually seen within pop music videos. Although I can’t change the
décor, I can once again ensure that I frame each shot so that as little of the décor is seen as possible.

MALE PROTAGONIST’S LIVING ROOM WITH BAR
Within the music video, a number of performance shots will be filmed in a bar location. My chosen
location for this purpose is the living room within my house that has been fitted with a functional bar.
By using this location, it will not be necessary to contact local bars and attempt to gain permission to
film there, and nor will it be necessary to attempt to find a friend/relative of either myself or the two
actors that has access to such a location that we could use. The only disadvantage of using this
particular location is that the room décor could be considered somewhat outdated, and in turn, could
be considered unconventional to the pop genre which is typically associated with modern locations.
However, this should not be a major problem, as I plan to ensure that only the bar itself and the artist
are in the frame of the necessary shots, and therefore the décor won’t be seen.
EX-GIRLFRIEND’S BEDROOM
Within the music video, there will be a shot towards the beginning of the video and another
towards the end of the ex-girlfriend in a bedroom setting. The bedroom I have chosen for this
purpose belongs to me, meaning that not only will it be easily accessible to both myself and the
two actors, but there will be the possibility to rearrange furniture and/or décor if needs be. A
further advantage of using my bedroom is that it could be considered both suitably feminine, and
conventional to the pop genre. Despite its suitability, the posters on the wall behind the bed could
be considered unconventional to a bedroom featured in a pop video, and therefore I will either
need to take them down, or ensure that they remain out of frame.

MALE PROTAGONIST’S BEDROOM
Within the music video, a number of performance shots, as well as a sequence of flashback shots
necessary to the narrative will be filmed the bedroom of the male artist / protagonist. The bedroom
pictured on the left is the spare room in my house, and therefore it will be easily accessible whilst
filming, and permission will not need to be obtained to use it. When reviewing the original three
choices for a possible bedroom location, it was decided that each had a number of problems
associated with it that would have caused problems whilst filming, and therefore I opted to use the
spare bedroom in my house instead. The chosen bedroom is spacious, simplistic (and therefore
gender neutral), and contains all of the furniture necessary for the video (e.g. the bedside table with
lamp), making it the ideal location when compared with others available for use.
