2. For my music video, I have decided to use 3 potential locations: a field/forest area, a house and a hall setting. I would like to use a house
for my location because I can create a party/”shindig” scene (narrative scenes) which will effectively link with the meaning and lyrics of
RHCP’s “Can’t stop”. The field/forest area and hall setting is for the performative scenes of the music video as I can focus on the band
members/actors. Creating a hybrid music video is something RHCP’s directors have frequently used and is what my audience would like to
see.
For my music video, I have decided to use 3 potential locations: a field/forest area, a house and a hall setting. For the forest/field area I will
not have to ask for permission to use, however for the hall and house I will have to ask school authorities/ local authorities, and the owner
of the house. Although the field/forest area will be 100% available to use as it is a public area, I may not be able to get a hall as it may take
weeks to get permission – however this location is an alternative for the field/forest area for the performative part of my music video.
Field/Forest Area – Margret’s Meadow, Sidmouth Devon.
Hall– Sidmouth College, Sidmouth, Devon.
House – 5 Lymebourne Park, Sidmouth, Devon.
3. The natural lighting from being outside should be good enough as in a majority of RHCP’s music videos, natural lighting is used frequently,
however, I will need artificial lighting for the house scenes (narrative parts) to replicate a party environment. There is power supply at both the
house and potential hall location which, however there is not power at the field/forest area. I will most likely not need a power supply at the
isolated field/forest location, however if the camera runs out of charge, I will bring a portable battery pack/charger just in case. The house
and the hall should be heated, however, I will have to check if it is okay to have heating on if it gets too cold. The forest/field area will have no
heating so actors will have to bring warm clothing along with their costumes. Costumes can be altered to make them warmer if needed.
Field/forest area – [From Sidmouth College] 10-15 minute walk. 5 minutes in a car.
Hall – [From Sidmouth College] 2 minute walk. No car needed as location is part of the college.
House – [From Sidmouth College] 15-20 minute walk. 5 minutes in a car.
These locations are reliable as it will cost nothing for transport is easy to get to if walking. The forest/field area can fit cast and crew and so is
the hall, however the house may be too small to accommodate everyone (however, I will need to check this). There are no major health and
safety issues involved, however cast and crew could potentially injure themselves if not doing what they are supposed to be doing (check
risk assessment)!
Nearest Hospital/casualty:
Victoria Hospital – Sidmouth – EX10 8EW – 01395512482. Will take 5 minutes in a car to get to or 10-15 minutes to walk to.
The field/forest area will have no noise problems or complaints due to the isolation, however there may be a few dog walkers about which we
will have to be wary of. If windy, recording may be a problem, which is why we have a hall as an alternative location.
