We have a speaker to play the music whilst we take the shots
Weaknesses:
Could be dangerous, as we would be standing in the middle of the road
We can’t guarantee that cars will stop
The trees on either side of the crossing might obstruct the sun
The crossing is busy in the morning and evening
The lighting will become darker in the evening
We need time to take the shots, which means that we may have to move for a car and take the shots again
It may rain, as we are out in the open
There may be people wanting to cross
We will have to play the music and try and film it in one go

3. The Custard Factory
• Where: Gibb Street, Birmingham, B9 4AA
• Availability: Saturday (10am-6pm) However, certain retailers may vary.
• What: Performance + crush walks past
• Distance from home: Around 30-minutes by train from nearby stations
• Power supplies: None – must take our own resources that don’t require a power source.
Strengths:
• We can shoot a wide range of footage here
• Quiet in the afternoons
• Open
• Outside, with natural lighting
• Full of interesting graffiti and artwork
• We have a speaker to play the music whilst we take the shots
Weaknesses
• We can’t guarantee that it won't be busy
• The space is busy in the morning and evening
• The lighting will become darker in the evening
• We need time to take the shots, which means that we may have to travel there earlier
• It is quite far to travel, to take the shots again
• It may rain, as we are out in the open
• There may be people wanting to walk past the camera, depending on how far we stand back from the walls
• We will have to play the music and try and film it in one go
• The staff that work in the custard factory shops, may not want us to play our music too loud

4. Shannon's Shed
• Where: Shannon’s back garden – Northfield
• Availability: Everyday – all hours
• What: Performance (substitute for typical garage band setting)
• Distance from home: Shannon = no distance, Claire = 30-minute walk
• Power supplies: Garden plug extensions
• Lighting: Natural lighting – will have to film on a bright day (possibly in the
afternoon). There’s a tree on the right-hand side, which could affect the lighting or
create shadows.
• Decking will have to be cleared of all objects and cleaned (leaves from the tree
usually fall onto the decking).
• Rain darkens the colour of the decking, so if this is not the effect we want, we will
have to film when there has been no rain and the decking is dry. However, if the
decking is wet it could be a slip hazard as the band will be performing on the decking.
• Location is easy to reach and props can be brought to the location and kept inside for
safety.

5. Cotteridge Park
• Where: 108 Dell Rd, Birmingham B30 2HY
• Availability: Everyday – all hours
• What: Narrative – Boy chases after his crush
• Distance from home: Shannon = 50-minute walk, Claire = 40-minute
walk, School = 10-minute walk
• Power supplies: None – must take our own resources that don’t require a power
source.
• Lighting: Natural lighting – must go there on a bright day and try to get all the filming
done on the same day, so that the lighting doesn’t change. There are a lot of trees in
Cotteridge Park, which could block some of the lighting and create shadows.
• The park can get busy in the afternoon and evening – children playing/running clubs.
This means we will have to arrange to go to the park during its quiet times.
• We need to check the weather before we go because we do not want it to rain during
filming. If the ground is wet, it could be a slip hazard.
