Cambridge
With Cambridge’s well known traditional
buildings and beautiful river for punting we
wanted to use this as our first shooting place.
With its colourful city we then decided to go
to the Museum because of the use of the old
film camera we could film as there was
bright lighting, it also gave us a colour
scheme of red to represent the art and also
the greenery next to the surrounding river.
Cromer +
Great
Yarmouth
beach
Cromer beach is a representation of the colour blue, this is from the sea, however, without Cromer there are extremely
vibrant coloured houses, we wanted to shoot this location as it juxtaposed with the sad tone of the track. With away
from the cramped city, we wanted part of the female to feel lost and out-of-the-way. This also allowed the use of both
cameras to be used as is was light and open giving the film camera the best quality that it could get, whilst using the
digital to be able to keep a more professional using shot.
Similarly, with Great Yarmouth the colour we are focussing on capturing is blue, although the scenic background of the
town isn’t as vibrant, the minimalistic qualities of the beach make the female again look lost and vunerable.
Train
The reason for using the train to be our
opening to the music video was, to show our
opening title of the had written ‘JAMES EDGE
– CLOSED’. Not only this but to make our
editing be more unique we wanted to
combine two moving train scenic windows
together in order to show the different
locations that we have been going to.
Although at points this idea became a
struggle to actually see the writing on the
clear laminated page we managed to tilt the
camera enough to be visible.
St Gregory’s
Church
Elm hill also has aspects of old, traditional
cobble streets, at night time the street lights
create a goldenly/orange tone to walk down,
this if we chose to turn into black and white
links to Film Noir influences, of the
claustrophobic and mysterious lane. Making
the female actor feel as if the world was
closing in on her.
Elm
Hill
St Gregory’s Church Antique fair is set in an
old building, holding some amazing and
unique artefacts, once again it links to the
orange colouring of the building signifies the
traditional and low-key, anxious qualities of
the female.
