NHS Warwickshire safer sex - approved - 191109Jonny Sharp
NHS Warwickshire has launched a campaign urging young people to practice safer sex over the festive season. Statistics show more teenage pregnancies occur in December and January when partying and alcohol consumption increases the risk of unsafe behavior. The campaign will distribute 1,000 postcards with condoms bearing the message "Have fun. Be careful" at local colleges and youth centers. It aims to remind young people to stay in control and use protection to avoid sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy if becoming sexually active over the holidays.

Clinical Experience on treating infertilityLIQIN ZHAO
This document summarizes the author's experience treating infertility using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It presents three case studies of patients who were treated with a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary changes. In the first case, a woman diagnosed with severe endometriosis conceived naturally after 11 weeks of TCM treatment. In the second case, a woman with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and a history of miscarriages conceived naturally after four months of treatment. In the third case, a woman diagnosed with premature ovarian failure conceived after treatment to remove blood stasis and toxins from her body. The author found that TCM was effective at improving hormone levels, blood flow, and organ function
The document summarizes various concepts related to social interaction and relationships. It defines concepts such as first impression, stereotype, social interaction, fear-based appeal, and public display of affection. For each concept, it provides an example of how the concept could be portrayed in a story about a girl named Claudia and her interactions in the library. The concepts explored how Claudia initially judged a guy based on his looks, assumed traits about him based on stereotypes, was hesitant to interact due to fear but was persuaded by her friend, and witnessed a public display of affection between two guys.
The document discusses the negative impacts of social media reliance and self-branding. It notes that self-branding has become more important than talent, and professionals are expected to maintain their online presence constantly. College students have become 40% less empathetic over the past 30 years, and social media encourages superficial relationships focused on appearances. Heavy social media use has been linked to increased feelings of loneliness, depression, and anxiety. Many young adults admit to lying about their lives on social platforms to maintain their personal brands.

The document discusses harmonic distortion in electrical distribution systems. It begins by defining harmonics as sinusoidal components of a periodic wave whose frequencies are integer multiples of the fundamental frequency. Harmonics are caused by nonlinear loads connected to the system and distort the current and voltage waves. This can cause problems such as overloads, equipment damage, and power quality issues. The document outlines various indicators used to measure and quantify harmonic distortion, including power factor, crest factor, distortion power, frequency spectrum, and total harmonic distortion. It emphasizes the need to detect and suppress harmonics to avoid economic and technical consequences in electrical installations.

The guidelines aim to promote safety practices across IMCA member companies involved in marine construction and related industries.
The document provides guidelines for lifting operations from the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). It outlines responsibilities and requirements for planning and conducting lifts safely. Key points include:
1) Personnel roles like competent person, lift supervisor and lifting team are defined to plan and execute lifts.
2) Lifts are categorized as routine or non-routine based on factors like equipment, load, environment and team experience. More stringent planning is required for non-routine lifts.
3) Planning includes risk assessments, lift plans, equipment selection and inspection, communication protocols, and contingencies. Thorough examination of lifting equipment is required based on its inspection frequency.

Accident Investigation
Thousands of accidents occur throughout
the United States every day. The failure of
people, equipment, supplies, or surroundings
to behave or react as expected causes most
of them. Accident investigations determine
how and why these failures occur. By using
the information gained through an
investigation, a similar, or perhaps more
disastrous, accident may be prevented. It is
important to conduct accident investigations
with prevention in mind.
Program Outline:
• What is an Accident?
• What is an Incident?
• What is a Near Miss?
• Why Investigate?
• Cost of Workplace Accidents
• Report Injuries
• Accident Vitals
• “Accidents Just Happen - Blame Game”
• What are Hazard Controls?
• No Fault Accidents
• Causes of Accidents
• When Do You Conduct an Investigation?
• Who Should Investigate?
• Plan the Formal Investigation?

Articulated Ladder Safety
An Articulated Ladder is a portable ladder
with one or more pairs of locking hinges
which allow the ladder to be set up in
several configurations such as a single or
extension ladder, with or without a stand-off, a
stepladder, a trestle ladder, scaffold, or work
table. Each pair of articulated joints in the
ladder can be locked in one or more
positions to accommodate the various
configurations. The locking positions of the
hinges allow set-up at the proper angles
to accommodate each configuration the
manufacturer has designated.
Program Outline:

• Ladder Selection
• Ladder Length
• Standing Levels
• Worksite Inspection
• Ladder Inspection

Bloodborne Pathogens
Pathogens are organisms such as a virus,
fungus, or bacteria that cause disease in
other organisms. In humans, these diseases
can range from the common cold and
food poisoning to meningitis. Pathogens
can be spread in many ways. One of the
most common ways a pathogen is spread is
through personal contact.
Organisms that transmit diseases through
blood or other bodily fluids are called
bloodborne pathogens, or BBP.
There are varieties of bloodborne pathogens,
including five types of hepatitis virus. In this
program, we’ll focus on three major viruses
that can be transmitted from person to person
by contact with blood or other bodily fluids.

Drill Rig
Oil and gas extraction requires frequent use
of heavy tools and equipment, work in remote
and rugged environmental conditions, and
is physically demanding. These factors may
influence the industry’s fatality rate, which is
seven times higher than the average of all U.S.
industries.
