The Lord Mayor's Appeal 2015-16 will raise funds to support improvements to a local children's hospital and community projects throughout the district. The other half will be granted to local community organizations and projects through the "Spread a Smile" Appeal to support their work in enhancing projects and activities for residents without needing additional fundraising. The Lord Mayor encourages donations to support these worthy causes.

Some young people, including children and babies, can be in hospital for as little as a day, but in many cases their stay can be lengthy or repeated, particularly for those children with chronic conditions. I sincerely hope that you will join with me to raise as much money as we possibly can for this worthy cause to help the children and their families The other half of my fundraising will support the “Spread a Smile” Appeal which will provide small grants for organisations and smaller groups throughout the area organised by the community and voluntary sector for their projects, events and activities. I want to be able to offer these dreams and enable them to enhance their projects further without having to spend extra time raising money.
