Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a Scottish physician and writer best known for his Sherlock Holmes detective stories. He wrote four novels and 56 short stories featuring Holmes between 1887-1930. Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective known for his logical reasoning and use of forensic science to solve difficult cases in London. The stories helped establish the character as one of the most iconic in English literature.
