National Historical Museums is a government agency which includes the Swedish History Museum and the Royal Coin Cabinet plus the museum operations at Tumba Papermill Museum. The agency also performs archaeology services.
The coin collection can trace its roots back to 1572 when Rasmus Ludvigsson, a secretary to the King Johan III started a collection of old Swedish coins.
From the start, there has always been a need to somehow keep track of the collection. In the early days using quill pen and paper, then gradually moving into more modern technology.
In the 1990s parts of the collection information became digital. Today the Swedish History Museum and the Royal Coin Cabinet use different solutions for the collections management and are ready to take the next step by moving in to Adlib. Our expectations are to enhance our work processes even more and reach out globally.

The toolkit aims not just to inspire but to directly assist in the creation of new applications. A EuropeanaTV Hackathon will be held in The Netherlands in April 2015. Stay tuned!

This slidedeck gives an overview of Dutch e-humanties projects that build upon the datasets of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, the national library of the Netherlands.
It focuses on 8 projects that reuse the digitized historical newspapers (1618-1995) of the KB.
It was presented on 7-1-2014 at the Huygens Institute for the History of the Netherlands (Huygens ING for short). This is an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) where around 100 scholars work in the largest humanities institute of the Netherlands.

Integrating archaeological data: The ARIADNE Infrastructure, Achille Felicett...ariadnenetwork
This presentation by Achille Felicetti of PIN (Università degli Studi di Firenze, Prato) on the work by the ARIADNE infrastructure to integrating archaeological data was given as part of a workshop organised by Digital Humanities Austria. The workshop focussed on the pressing question of long-term preservation of digital data from various angles, central being user needs specific to the different fields of the Humanities. Felicetti introduced the ARIADNE research infrastructure, which has been funded by the EC's FP7 programme, to integrate archaeological research datasets from across Europe and support their uses by researchers.
How can design help us communicate data easily to users? Where does this stem from? What methods of design are easy for users to engage with? What should we be trying to achieve with these designs?
The cultural sector is a big adopter of open data and semantic web technologies. They have embraced the ideas and are weaving them into everything they do. So, who is doing what? What data sets are there available? And how have these been presented to the public.
Using case studies from the cultural sector, we will explore the practical challenges associated with complex UI designs. Looking at work-in-progress through to finished products we will discuss best practice, finding innovation, and the challenges of working with data sets.
