3. HAVE YOU EVER READ
THE USER AGREEMENT AND/OR POLICIES?
Individual interest Business interest
PROS
Information is power
Clarity about privacy, data collection,
freedom of expression vs censorship,
copyright issues and ownership of
information posted)
CONS
Takes long time to read and
understand text in legalese
No negotiation power, the only choice
is not to use the services
For-profit organisations have spent
millions of $ to develop an application.
They can determine the terms of use
freely, however:
Claim wanting to "change the world"-
"Fake ethics" - business interest
override ethical considerations and
fairness
Full T&C are often dispersed over
numerous documents, real terms
camuflaged
Carefully crafted vague and ambigous
terms and policies allow the broadest
interpretation

website

followed in case of suspected copyright violation and
also

14. Costs vs benefits - How much is too much?
There is no doubt that LinkedIn is the most effective
community for professionals and businessess.
It is worth to give up our freedom to rip the benefits?
Each of us must make his/her own decision.
You can create an authentic profile and network
effectively without telling people EVERYTHING about
yourself.
Don`t assume anyting - read the terms and policies
