LIMITS BETWEEN
SCIENCE AND NATURE

WHAT IS
MAN
LOOKING
FOR?
Man has always tried to investigate the problem and
tries to give an explanation to those catastrophic
phenomena that condition and change our lives. The
contribution between man and nature has always
been conditioned by the continuous search for an
increasingly precise and accurate interpretation of
the world around us. Until the thirteenth century,
the dominant conception dealt with a speculative
vision, based on universal concepts that were
almost never related to any form of experimental
verification. The nature as a mother gives birth to
us, we can do is to respect and abide by all the
elements that this puts at our disposal.
THE ATTITUDE OF MAN’S
• Man's desire to overcome the forces of Nature is defined in a term used bytheRomantics:
sublime, or a dualism betweenadmiration in the face of immense natural power and the
will to act to overcome that limitthat appeared tending to infinity.
• Although the Romantics considered scientific progress useless, they understood what was
the impulse that urged scientists, that is, to go beyond nature and put it within fixed rules.
An example of this is Mary Shelley's "Frankestein": in an attempt to create life, he dies,
destroyed by the consequences of his gesture, trying to dominate something
uncontrollable.
• The natural tendency of man, that is, the will to seek, analyze, explore, and overcome
nature is one of the cornerstones of existence and science is its expression. This
continuous stimulus to challenge nature constitutes one of man's "reasons for living".
THE
BIOTECHNOLOGY
Biotechnology means any technological application
that uses biological systems, living organisms or
their derivatives, to make or modify products or
processes for specific use.
Biotechnologies are divided into different branches
such as the medical one, which deals with
discovering, extracting, isolating, or manufacturing
active ingredients, producing vaccines and
developing new techniques for the analysis and
diagnosis of diseases; then you have the food,
environmental, bioinformatics and legal and ethical
ones; the latter is responsible for spreading to
society the knowledge, discoveries and notions of
this discipline.
BIOETHICS
Bioethics is a discipline which deals
with moral issues linked to biological
research, the meeting point between
science and nature. Bioethics is a
discipline which deals with moral issues
linked to biological research, the
meeting point between science and
nature.
Bioethics arises from a failure of
medical research and science that
have generated situations that are
morally unacceptable and
unworthy of human life.
Bioethics is seen as a science of
survival, as it is addressed not only to
man, but to the whole ecosystem, to use
scientific knowledge no longer in a
"wild" way but keeping in mind the
moral indications and laws inherent in
the biosphere itself.
Some aspects such as cloning, the use or
not of stem cells, assisted procreation,
euthanasia, organ transplants, genetic
engineering, the experimentation of new
types of drugs and therapies, all
represent topics that are of great interest
to the population: raising doubts,
curiosity and giving rise to discordant
opinions.
FINALLY,
WHAT IS
BIOETHICS
?
Man has always tried to investigate the
problem and tries to give an explanation to
those catastrophic phenomena that condition
and change our lives. The contribution
between man and nature has always been
conditioned by the continuous search for an
increasingly precise and accurate
interpretation of the world around us. Until
the thirteenth century, the dominant
conception dealt with a speculative vision,
based on universal concepts that were almost
never related to any form of experimental
verification. The nature as a mother gives
birth to us, we can do is to respect and abide
by all the elements that this puts at our
disposal.
THE
EUTHANASIA
Euthanasia is the action aimed at freeing the
dying person from intolerable pain, causing his
death; this action has two different visions,
because it is both seen in the medical field
because medicines are needed to carry out this
action, but also in the moral field because it is
an action to which we must reflect thoroughly
before carrying it out and in fact not all
countries agree to this action.
