Observation and reason are the natural methods to discover reality, which science uses to analyze data and link causes and effects. A physician must use cognitive and scientific methods to understand human life and promote human development, which must be respected. Advances in human genome research have increased appreciation for the value of human life, but some situations endanger life in social and political terms, contradicting respect for human rights. While promoting rights, some allow legislation against the right to life of the unborn or those facing death. Thinking of oneself as the absolute owner of life can lead to relativism and losing a sense of true freedom, autonomy and justice.

THE FRONTIERS OF SCIENCE TO INCREASE THE COGNITIVE, PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICA...Fernando Alcoforado
This article aims to demonstrate the extreme need to create more biologically evolved human beings with the use of science and technology to make them defy the limits imposed by nature and survive as a species today and in the future. It is necessary to make the formation of super-men and super-women that can be achieved through the use of science and technology (biotechnology, nanotechnology and neurotechnology) to increase the cognitive capacity and overcome the physical and psychological limitations of beings humans. This situation can be achieved through transhumanism, which is a philosophy that aims to eradicate in any way the suffering caused by diseases, aging or even the death of human beings, as well as reaching the maximum potential in terms of human development.

1. What Is Anthropology?
The Subject Matter of Anthropology
Anthropology is the study of what it is to be human in the past and present, the things about people that are the same, and the things about them that are different. Anthropologists try to understand and describe the way in which humans think and behave and why we think and behave as we do. They help us recognize that much of what we think and do has been learned from the cultural worlds we walk in and that others do not necessarily experience or understand the world in the same way we do.
To understand humanity, anthropologists must study all of humanity, not just the most familiar or convenient human populations. Anthropology is cross-cultural. It seeks to understand how life is lived, experienced, and interpreted in different settings and at different times. It also seeks to understand how different people's unique histories and positions in larger contexts, such as the global economy, shape their lives. By studying people in their own contexts, anthropologists guard against conclusions that may be true for some, but not all. Anthropologists resist assumptions that any particular behavior, idea, or way of being is "natural" unless they are sure that no others do it, think about it, experience it, or interpret it differently. They challenge ethnocentrism wherever and whenever they find it.
Think about it:
Ideas about where infants should sleep can reflect notions of the "ideal" person a society is trying to develop. Many Americans, for example, highly value independence, individualism, and personal space and think, therefore, that infants "must" learn to sleep in their own cribs, often in their own rooms. People from other traditions, however, may find this practice cruel. Where do you think infants should sleep? Why? What does your opinion say about your values and traditions?
The Development of Anthropology
Historically, many have written about the ways of life of "others." For example, Herodotus wrote about different groups of people in the ancient world, Marco Polo wrote about the people he encountered in his travels, and the early European explorers and missionaries wrote about people in the Americas. Despite this long tradition of "amateur" anthropology, anthropology as an organized academic discipline is only about 130 years old. In Europe and the United States in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the increasing ability to travel to faraway places and the realization that, although there was enormous diversity among peoples, we are all members of the same species allowed the discipline to flourish.
Though anthropology first developed in this Euro-American context and Western anthropologists studied "exotic" peoples in faraway places or traditional peoples whose ways of life were changing rapidly with modernity, anthropologists now come from all over the world. They bring their different perspectives to th ...

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

SCIENCE, ETHICS AND THE VALUE OF HUMAN LIFE
Jorge Ybarnegaray Urquidi. Ph D
Prof. Bioethics Universidad Católica Boliviana
Observation and reason are the natural methods available to discover reality. Science
uses the reason to analyze data observation to link causes and effects, in order to make
experiments, develop concepts or build models.
A physician is the observer of human life and he must use the cognitive and scientific
method to be aware of the reality and as an application to a target, the development of the
human being which must be respected.
A human being with the moral sense he has, can make judgments of values, anticipate
facts and distinguish good from evil. This ethical capability is related to the evolutionary
process and the development of a high intellectual function of individuals, in order to be
responsible for what he has to do with his life.
After a long development of scientific and technological development, we wonder if the
human being is free to do with his life whatever he wants technically?
We must admit that scientific research and our behavior should have certain limits, at first
there are ethical limits and then legal ones.
One of the most important scientific advance that make us appreciate even more the value
of human life, is the human genome research. UNESCO recognizes that research on the
genome and their application, opened immense perspectives to improve the health of all
mankind and emphasizes that he must respect the dignity, the freedom and the rights of
the individual, and at the same time forbids discrimination based on genetic
characteristics. Proclaim of the Universal Declaration on the genome and of human rights
on 20-12-1996 which first article says: "the human genome is the basis of the fundamental
unity of all members of the human family and the recognition of inherent dignity and
diversity. In symbolic meaning, the genome is the heritage of mankind"... "Each individual
has the right to be respected for their dignity and rights, regardless of their genetic
characteristics."
Pope John Paul II expressed thereon to the Pontifical Academy for Life: "the human
genome is like the last continent discovered", and encouraged scientists to continue their
research in molecular biology. At the same time, he showed his concern when he said:
“It is alive the tendency to investigate knowledge not only to admire and contemplate, but
to increase the power of things. Knowledge and power go always together and mingle with
more than one kind of logic which can imprison mankind.
Those who respect human rights and the genome affirm that human life is inviolable, but
on the other hand, we see that different social situations are endangering life and this fact,
in social and political terms, is a real contradiction.
While promoting human rights, there are those who are allowed to legislate in favor of
abortion, euthanasia or the death penalty, denying life to those who are not born yet or to
people before death.
The idea of freedom is perverted with subjectivism and individualism in a world that
proudly makes human rights its flag but on the other hand, violates the lives of innocents
and defenseless beings.
Human beings that fall in the mistake to think they are the absolute owners of life, arrive to
ethic relativism and morality, and loose the sense of the genuine freedom, autonomy and
justice.
