You can also create a chase with them. They are also used to add depth to general cover. Compare & ContrastIf I was creating a chase for a music gig I would use a Parcan over a Profile or a Birdie. I would choose a Parcan because it can create a chase, its aesthetic, it has gel frames and it is mainly used for general cover. I wouldn't use a Profile because it wont create general wash and it is mostly used for specials, like gobos and iris’ and I wouldn't use a Birdie because it is too small and the light isnt powerful enough.
Light If there is no light, or the bulb is not working, all spare lights can be found at the back of the hall. Safety chain If you are hanging the light from the rig or the boom, the CCT must have a safety chain . Additional safety chains are situated at the back of the hall. G clamp If you are putting the light in the rig, you will need a G clamp. Additional G clamps are situated at the back of the hall. Gel If using colour you will need a gel. These can be found in the gel cabinet at the back of the hall. You should then cut the gel to the required size Gel Frame If using colour you will require a gel frame which are hung on the wall at the back of the hall above the light rack. I would use a PC because the light has a defined edge and so the actor would be more isolated and it also has the same lens as a profile so it is the most similar. I wouldn't use a Selecon or a CCT because neither are as defined as a PC.

Compare & ContrastIf I was trying to create a window effect for a set I would use a Minuette Profile over a CCT or a Parcan. I would use a Profile because it isolates a spot and it also has a gobo and shutters so it is easier to create and effect with them. I wouldnt use a CCT because it is used for general wash and doesnt have a gobo and I wouldnt use a Parcan because it cant define the spot as much.

Gobos can be found in Julies office and gobo holders can be found at the back of the hall above the lighting rack. Iris In order to reduce the beam angle you can use an iris. These can be found above the lighting rack at the back of the hall.

Uses an energy saving light bulb so the light is brighter and whiter than the one in a Minuette Profile. Compare & ContrastIf I was isolating an actor on stage I would use a Source Four over a Selecon or a Flood. I would use a Source Four because it is a defined spot light and it is used for isolating actors. I wouldn't use a Selecon because it is used for general cover and has no defined edge. I wouldn't use a Flood because it is used for general cover and cant direct light.

Mainly used for aesthetics and lighting the audience in performances. Compare & ContrastIf I was lighting the audience I would use a Birdie over a Selecon or a Parcan. I would use a Birdie because it is aesthetic and it doesnt produce much light so no attention would be taken off the actors on stage once the audience was lit. I wouldnt use a Selecon or a Parcan because they are too big and bright and create too much general wash.

I would use a Pinspot because its main purpose is to light glitter balls. I wouldn't use a Flood or an LED Parcan because it creates too much general wash and you cant direct the light.

Compare & ContrastIf I wanted to provide multiple colouring allowing the mood of the scenen to change I would pick an LED parcan over a Flood or a Parcan. I would use and LED Parcan because it has the 3 primary colours built into it and it can be changed by the desk. I wouldnt use a Parcan because its only used to create depth and I wouldnt use a Flood because the colour can only be changed by changing the gel.
