Lighting
1. Light Experimentation
On the 14th November 2014,during our media
studies lesson we prepared our production
space by putting up the black backdrop. We
decided to look at lighting in the studio space.
2. Light on right back side with
white light reflector- This was our
first practice shot and we quickly
noticed that we needed to light
the left side of our shots
Light on right back side with gold light
reflector- We decided to look at the other
coloured light reflectors to see a difference
between the amount of light they reflect.
We noticed the gold light reflector gave a
warmer tone of colour to the shot.
Light on right back side with gold light
reflector and smart phones- After looking
at the coloured light reflectors we used
improved light in the form of our smart
phones to light the left side of the shot.

3. Light on right side, no torch on
left side, no light reflector
Light at right back side, torch on
left side, silver light reflector
Light on right side, no light source on
left, no reflector – We looked at this
shot however decided not to film like
this as the left side of the background
was dark and it made the face of the
artist reflect the light and made her
look pale.
Light directly in front and high up, no
reflector or torch- This lit the top of
the models head but it cast shadows
on the models face so you can’t
clearly see facial expression.
Light directly in front at low angle,
no reflector or torch- This has
significant shadows so would not
suit our shots as it looked a bit
creepy with the shadow.
