This document discusses the causes of double burden malnutrition from a lifestyle and behavioral perspective. It begins by defining key terms like nutrition transition and double burden of malnutrition. It then presents a behavioral epidemiology framework for understanding how behaviors relate to health outcomes. The document outlines various individual, interpersonal, community, and policy level factors that influence diet and physical activity behaviors based on a socioecological model. Specific behaviors discussed include breastfeeding, family size, shifts from traditional to modern diets and leisure activities, and changes in modes of transportation and types of work. National trends in various countries relating dietary patterns and prevalence of double and under-nutrition are also presented.
This document contains a bibliography with references on various topics related to infant and child nutrition and feeding. It is divided into several sections covering issues such as the effects of breastfeeding, timing of introducing complementary foods, the impact of breastfeeding on acceptance of different foods and flavors later in life, problems with complementary feeding, the role of parents in children's diet, and more. The references provided include journal articles, books, and studies from around the world published between 2001 and 2011.
Prevalence and determinant factors of overweight and obesity among preschool ...Alexander Decker
This study assessed the prevalence of overweight and obesity among 358 preschool children aged 3-5 years in Hawassa City, Ethiopia. The prevalence of overweight was 7.3% and obesity was 3.4%, for a combined prevalence of overweight and obesity of 10.7%. Children from higher socioeconomic backgrounds had higher odds of being overweight or obese compared to children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Risk factors for overweight and obesity included early introduction of formula feeding, consumption of a diverse diet including sweets and fast foods, and higher parental wealth. The study highlights the emerging problem of overweight and obesity among preschool children in Ethiopia as lifestyles become more urbanized.

This document discusses a study that examined whether home economics and health education in school influences the food knowledge of adults. The study analyzed data from two online surveys of over 2000 Australian adults each that assessed their nutrition, food safety, and environmental knowledge through true/false and multiple choice questions. The results showed that home economics education was associated with higher food knowledge among several age groups. The associations between home economics education and knowledge differed across Australian states. This suggests home economics education may provide long-lasting learning of food knowledge, though more research is needed to confirm the findings and determine the causal impact of home economics education on adult food knowledge.
This document outlines strategies and interventions to tackle stunting in children under 2 years old. It recommends preventive and early interventions at the community level through empowerment and improved healthcare services. The key is to assure sustainability through ongoing quality improvement processes. It describes screening children under 2 to identify nutritional needs and providing evidence-based interventions. Interventions discussed include delayed cord clamping, early breastfeeding, dietary diversity, facility-based management of severe and moderate acute malnutrition, community-based management, identifying at-risk children, fortified supplements, deworming, zinc therapy, multivitamin supplements, and vitamin A supplementation. Metrics include decreasing malnutrition and assuring regular quality improvement team meetings.
Kaleab Baye presented on diets and stunting in Ethiopia. Stunting rates have declined overall but inequalities persist, with the lowest wealth quintile having the highest rates. Complementary foods in Ethiopia are often low in quantity, diversity, and quality. Improving maternal and child nutrition requires interventions across food systems to increase availability, accessibility, and affordability of nutrient-dense foods as well as improving caregiver feeding practices and maternal health. Comprehensive measures are needed to assess diet quality and reduce consumption of unhealthy foods and risks to food safety.
Nutritional Status of School Age Children in Private Elementary Schools: Basi...IJAEMSJORNAL
Department of Education (DepEd) organizes nutritional programs to improve the health status of children in public schools. Likewise, the researcher believes that health awareness must be raised in private schools as well. This study aimed to affect the community to be aware and more knowledgeable about nutrition. Specifically, this study focused on the nutritional status of school age children in private elementary schools in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija. It sought to determine the profile of the learners, anthropometrics, clinical data and the knowledge of the learners as to dietary and the significant relationship between the profile of the learners and the nutritional status of the school aged children. With all the data gathered a meal management program was proposed. The study employed the quantitative description design. The study manifests that majority of the respondents were not yet aware of what they eat. In addition, age, greatly affects the respondent’s anthropometrics as to height. More so, age, number of siblings and family income, greatly affect the respondents’ anthropometrics as to weight. The researcher adopted the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipino program that was developed by the DOST- FNRI.

Influence of Mothers’ Participation in Intra-Household Decision Making on Nut...Hudu Zakaria
The purpose of this paper is to investigate effects of mothers’ participation in intra-household decision making on the nutritional status of their children. The paper relied solely on analysis of data for Northern Region of Ghana, collected as part of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Feed the Future population baseline survey conducted in 2012. Multiple Linear Regression Model was used in examining mothers’ participation in intra-household decision making on children’s weight-for-age, height-for-age and weight-for-height which were used as proxies for children’s nutritional status. Results of the analysis revealed that, the Region is still far from achieving the MDG 1 target of attaining 1.8% malnutrition prevalence rate, as stunting, underweight and wasting prevalence rates among children in the region were found to be 27%, 25% and 13% respectively. The analysis also found mothers’ participation in intra-household decision making, ownership and control of household resources as significant in influencing positively children’s nutritional status. Increasing participation and power of women in intra-household decision making process are imperative in improving children nutritional status and reducing malnutrition prevalence among children under five years. It is therefore recommended that programmes and projects aimed at promoting sustainable nutritional wellbeing among children should consider empowering mothers of children so as to promote their status and barging power in intra-household decision making process.
This document discusses malnutrition in Belize and evidence-based interventions. It provides statistics showing that 22% of children in Belize are stunted. The first 1000 days of life are critical for development and damage from malnutrition during this period is largely irreversible. Recommendations to tackle chronic malnutrition in children under two include preventive and early interventions, community empowerment, improving quality of health services, and ensuring sustainability through quality improvement. The Belize health system considers these strategies to address the country's chronic malnutrition problem.
Prevalence of malnutrition_and_associated_factors_AmanualNuredin
This study assessed the prevalence of malnutrition and associated factors among children aged 6-59 months in Hidabu Abote district, North Shewa, Oromia, Ethiopia. A cross-sectional study was conducted from September 8-23, 2012 using a multistage sampling method to select 820 children. The analysis revealed that 47.6% of children were stunted, 30.9% were underweight, and 16.7% were wasted. Main factors associated with stunting included child age, family monthly income, receiving butter as a pre-lacteal feeding, and family planning practices. Underweight was associated with number of children in the household and receiving butter as a pre-lacteal feeding
Higher maternal educational attainment is associated with decreased exclusive breastfeeding and increased use of formula in both urban and rural Peru. Exclusive breastfeeding rates are significantly higher in rural versus urban mothers across all education levels. Urban mothers also report higher use of other fluids in addition to breastfeeding compared to rural mothers. Targeted breastfeeding campaigns should focus on mothers with higher education and those in urban areas to promote exclusive breastfeeding practices.

Planning Your Visit - School Nutrition
School health and nutrition and reducing childhood obesity call for crucial attention for the health, wellbeing, growth, and development for school aged children. Changes must be made to assist schools to implement and improve on educating children on the importance of eating healthy and increasing daily physical activity. The purpose of this paper and this writer’s priority issue is to provide healthier food options on school menus for children by discussing the importance of a dietitian and their role of implementing these healthy options. In addition, recommending assisting meal programs and school gardening. The overall focus is to improve children’s diet and increase healthier lifestyle by decreasing the rate of childhood obesity.
Key Strategies
As a nurse, nutrition is an important topic to advocate. Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the United States putting children at risk for poor health and serious health conditions (Weicheselbaum, Buttriss, 2014). According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (2017), about 1 in 6 (17%) of children in the United States are considered overweight or are considered obese. This writer’s purpose is to advocate and implement healthy lifestyles modifications starting at a young age. These concerns will be addressed by contacting the State House Representative, Shevrin D. “Shev” Jones.
The first step in planning the visit was conducting research and gathering contact information on local schools in the community, a dietitian, and a local policy maker or legislator who seems to express the same concerns to implement healthier nutrition in schools. A detailed email outlining the current status, an overview of the plan with potential benefits or outcomes, as well as potential drawbacks and costs was sent to Shevrin D. “Shev” Jones. The principal of Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary School, Michael Castellano, the director of dining services of Chartwells, Javier Diaz, would also be contacted. After two days, a telephone call was placed and a meeting was set up with Shevrin D. “Shev” Jones. Prior to placing a telephone call and prior to the meeting, this writer prepared the night before for the meeting conversation and possible questions that may arise. Upon meeting with Shevrin D. “Shev” Jones, this writer introduced herself, gave a concise background of the years of experience in the healthcare field, and expressed how important healthy living is. The conversation then started by mentioning that this writer wants to make a policy change of changing school nutrition by including healthier options for children to chose from. In doing so, hiring a dietitian, recommending providing assisting meal programs and school gardening were suggested solutions. Facts were given about how serious childhood obesity is and the health problems associated with this condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovasc.

10 Benefits an EPCR Software should Bring to EMS Organizations Traumasoft LLC
The benefits of an ePCR solution should extend to the whole EMS organization, not just certain groups of people or certain departments. It should provide more than just a form for entering and a database for storing information. It should also include a workflow of how information is communicated, used and stored across the entire organization.

chemistry investigatory project
The development of nanogold-based cancer therapy could revolutionize oncology by providing a more targeted, less invasive treatment option. This project contributes to the growing body of research aimed at harnessing nanotechnology for medical applications, paving the way for future clinical trials and potential commercial applications.
Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, prompting the need for innovative treatment methods. Nanotechnology offers promising new approaches, including the use of gold nanoparticles (nanogold) for targeted cancer therapy. Nanogold particles possess unique physical and chemical properties that make them suitable for drug delivery, imaging, and photothermal therapy.
Are you looking for a long-lasting solution to your missing tooth?
Dental implants are the most common type of method for replacing the missing tooth. Unlike dentures or bridges, implants are surgically placed in the jawbone. In layman’s terms, a dental implant is similar to the natural root of the tooth. It offers a stable foundation for the artificial tooth giving it the look, feel, and function similar to the natural tooth.
8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.

2. Terminology
Nutrition transition defines as the changes in dietary patterns and
nutrient intakes when populations adopt modern lifestyles during
economic and social development, urbanization and acculturation
(Popkin BM, 1994)
Double burden of malnutrition refers to “double burden” of
malnutrition with under- and over nutrition occurring
simultaneously among different population groups in developing
countries (FAO, 2006).
Overweight: BMI>25 through 30
Obesity: BMI>30
Stunting: <-2 height-for-age Z-score (HAZ)

3. Behavioral Epidemiology
Framework
1. Identify links between the behavior and health
outcomes
2. Develop and apply measures of the behavior and
related attributes in populations (prevalence,
trends and social distribution)
3. Identify the modifiable determinants of the
behavior
4. Develop and systematically evaluate
interventions to influence the behavior
5. Use research findings to inform policy and
practice
