Life-cycle costing is a system that provides an estimate of all the costs and revenues attributable to a cost object (product, service, project or asset) from its development to its discarding or dis-lodging or discontinuing or removing or abandonment from the market. Life-cycle costing can be applied to products, services, projects, or assets over the entire life-cycle in the market. The objective of life-cycle costing is to maximize returns over the entire life of a product, service, project or asset by minimizing costs and maximizing revenues through the application of planning, management, and controlling techniques.
