3. Nutrition
All organisms need energy and materials
to satisfy their need of energy
requirement.
Obtained energy from inorganic sources in
the form of Carbon-di-oxide and water.
Nutrition is of two types-
Autotrophic Nutrition
Heterotrophic Nutrition
4. Autotrophic Nutrition
Energy needs of the Autotrophic organism
are satisfied by photosynthesis.
Autotrophs takes material from outside
and convert them into energy.
Autotrophs prepared their own food by the
process of photosynthesis.
Utilised Sunlight and chlorophyll pigment.
6CO2+ 12H2O chlorophyll/sunlight
C6H12O6+6O2+6H20.

Raw material-
CO2, H2O, Sunlight
Pigment - Chlorophyll
eg.
All green plants.
6. Heterotrophic Nutrition
Hetrotrophs are the organism that
depends on other for nutrition.
The form of nutrition is different depends
on the individual and food material.
Holozoic
Symbiotic
Parasitic
eg- Human and Animal.
7. Nutrition in Amoeba
Amoeba is unicellular organism.
Holozoic nutrition is found (Phagocytosis).
Amoeba uses finger like projections called
psuedopodia.
Fuse over the food particles making a food
vacuole.
Inside food vacuole,complex material are
split down into simpler one.
Diffuse in cytoplasm.

Left over or indigested food remain out of
the from the cell and excreted out.
9. Digestion in Human being
Digestion starts from-
Mouth
Oesophagus
Stomach
Intestine
10. Mouth
Salivary gland plays an important role.
Amylase enzyme breaks down (Starch to
simple sugar)
Food is wetted here.
Chewing of food (Breakdown of complex
food into simple).
Peristaltic movements takes place along
the gut.
