This course focuses on providing students with a chronological understanding of the life of Christ within its historical and cultural context. The course objectives are for students to demonstrate understanding of Christ's teachings, events and miracles; describe major life events in order; understand geographical movements; and gain social/cultural background knowledge from the Gospels. Students will read from biblical texts and complete assignments involving research papers and summarizing a Gospel.

International Studies is about the exploration of the world's cultures, languages, and institutions and their diverse traditions and common interests. The International Studies Pathway encourages appreciation of the world's cultural diversity and recognition of the common issues that contemporary societies face. Students develop comparative perspectives of ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible institutions. This Pathway requires students to develop cross-cultural understanding, technical skills, and pre-professional experience relevant to the globalizing world of the 21st century. The International Studies Pathway is appropriate for students interested in international business, culture, arts, politics, and economics. When living in Beijing China, there were many instances that I seen different cultures taking place. With using the anthropological lens, my interpretation of my experiences have changed. When I was living there, I didn't really question anything. Or think about how and why their culture or life style is so dramatically different from the life I had in the states. I supposed it changed, due to the fact that I am thinking about how they came to be. Such as how their language has developed over time. And how is it considered to be one of the most difficult languages to learn. Or the archeology of their past. From looking at the city and seeing modern buildings then to seeing old Chinese temples in the city. The past isn't forgotten because the buildings are still there, right down the street from the modern ones. One of the things I thought was interesting, on my way to school I would always pass these old ladies all in lines dancing to music. I always thought it was a bit strange.But culturally that is a cultural norm. Another interesting cultural observation I seen was doing Chinese New Year, for the entire month they release fire works all day and all night. Its just like one giant party all month long. And for every family the youngest child receives money. My friend Connie received about 30,000 yuan from her entire family combined. With each of these cultural differences I experienced they all seem to be past down from generation to generation. They feel strongly about traditions and family bonding.

I going to use one of the situations that I came into with while I was serving in the Army while I was deployed we did man different types of missions and met with many different people on a day to day basis. Most of these encounters were just casual in nature and didn't really have any true meaning besides letting the locals know that we were there and wanting to help them out. I recall this one time though we had to go and do a meeting with the village elder while in Afghanistan to talk about things that were taking place in his village. Course Description:
This course analyzes the development of the United States from Reconstruction to the present. Although an accurate factual understanding of each era in American history is crucial, this course is primarily about interpreting what the facts mean. The purpose of this class is for students to see a subject (like history) from as many different angles as possible. Students will see how different historians marshal similar facts in different ways in order to persuade readers that a particular interpretation superior. Students will learn to think analytically and critically about each interpretation so that students can decide for themselves which interpretation is more accurate.
Course Objectives (Student Learning Outcomes):
This course will help transform students into lifelong learners who independently read and research, and who think objectively, critically and analytically. The course promotes global awareness and fosters oral and written communication skills. Students will learn to compose essays that demonstrate college level research and writing in an organized, logical, persuasive, and grammatically correct manner. The essays will state theses supported by evidence, critically analyzing and evaluating differing interpretations of Modern American history. By the end of this course students should be able to describe the broad sweep of historical trends throughout American history from Reconstruction to the present, show basic competence in historiography, and understand the complex intertwining of socio-cultural, economic, and political trends in modern American history.
Course Requirements:
1) Class participation. Students must participate in this class. Proper participation requires preparing for each class by reading and preparing typed answers to the study questions in advance of each session (political science students must brief each of the assigned cases), asking the professor questions about the reading, study questions, and lectures, and responding to the professor’s questions. You should always stay one section ahead of the topic we are discussing in class so that you are prepared when we begin discussing the next section. In order to make sure you are prepared to ask questions in class, you should have at least 5 questions about the reading, lectures, or topic of the day typed out in advance and ready to turn in if requested by the professor. Making converts, gaining decisions, does not equal making disciples. It is essential we look at the right ideas, in the right way to make real disciples of King Jesus.
It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
Jesus expected a process of change, growth and development in the life of his followers. Many writers suggest a three or four stage process. A four stage process is outlined here, along with personal challenge / application.
Disciple-Making, according to Greg Ogden requires at least tow major factors: Internalisation and Multiplication. This presentation adds to his ideas with some scripture and illustrative ideas challenging followers of Christ to become, and make, disciples in his image.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. 42. One Solitary Life
He was born in an obscure village, the child of a
peasant. He grew up in another village, where
he worked in a carpenter shop until he was 30.
Then, for three years, he was an itinerant
preacher.

He never had a family or owned a home. He
didn't go to college. He never lived in a big city.
He never traveled 200 miles from the place
where he was born. He did none of the things
that usually accompany greatness. He had no
credentials but himself.

turned against him. His friends ran away. One of
them denied him. He was turned over to his
enemies and went through the mockery of a trial.
He was nailed to a cross between two thieves.
While he was dying, his executioners gambled
for his garments, the only property he had on

borrowed grave, through the pity of a friend.

today he is the central figure of the human race.
I am well within the mark when I say that all the
armies that ever marched, all the navies that
ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all
the kings that ever reigned--put together--have
not affected the life of man on this earth as much
as that one, solitary life.
