The document discusses how life is too short for wasting time, aimlessness, mediocrity, shortsightedness, and procrastination. It argues that Christians should use their time wisely and not waste it on ungodly living, idleness, anger, or efforts to get even. They should have clear goals and purposes beyond just living for the moment. Christians should also avoid being mediocre in their service and have diligent, wholehearted love for God. Additionally, they should have goals that extend beyond this life and think about more than just the present. The document stresses that some tasks are too important to delay and risk not completing, like obeying the gospel or reconciling with others.

In 2 Chronicles 29 through chapter 31, Hezekiah reopened and cleansed the temple in Jerusalem and he invited all Israel to come to Zion, to the holy temple, to worship God.
After rededicating themselves to serving God, the people purged the land of idols.
Oh, that we would have the courage just to purge our hearts !
To purge ourselves of prejudice ,and the poison of pride !... To empty ourselves of ourselves and be filled with God and his Spirit!...
For the sake of peace , for the sake of unity , for the sake of saving the lost – what would you be willing to do?
Most of us are racist and don't even realize it , or prejudiced and don't see it , divisive or sectarian and deny it. In our rejecting to face our flaws and fix them , we reject the very Gospel that saved us!
How can we "be all things to all men" when we esteem ourselves better than others? How can we "live peaceably with ALL" when we look for bridges to burn , rather than mend? How can we possibly "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel" when we have made our world ,a small familiar circle?
If the Gospel confirmed anything other than the obvious , it confirmed that there is NO PLACE for racism , or prejudice in the Lord's body , mission, and purpose... NONE.
What have we become?
What have we let the media , politics, and FEAR do to us ,church?
Titus 2:11-12 " For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for ALL PEOPLE, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age ..."

"Axing the Root of Bitterness" from Hebrews 12:12-15.
I'm convinced that most of us, at one time or another, have had someone that we have fallen out with. There have been times when anger has filled our hearts, & we felt that we would never be able to forgive & forget.
Maybe it was a brother or sister, a parent, someone at school, a business partner, a neighbor, or simply an acquaintance.
I don't know how many times I have had to ask for forgiveness, or that I have been forgiven. But there is nothing that will take the load off, nothing that will help you more, than the burden of bitterness being taken off of your heart. As someone has said, "To forgive is to live."
Jesus teaches us, "To fail to forgive is to block the flow of God's blessings." Jesus said in Matthew 18:35 "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."
When there is harshness, resentment, a spirit of retaliation or bitterness, this attitude becomes a dam, an obstacle to the grace of God so that it just simply cannot flow through our hearts.
Where there is bitterness and hatred , there is "No place for Grace"

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
•“To err is man…”
•Forgiveness means to pardon, to wave punishment for offence (Matt 18:25-27)
•It is the letting go of negative feelings and attitude towards the offender
•It constitutes the foundation of Christianity
•There are no numerical limits
Jesus told his disciples that they were the salt of the earth & the light of the world. He would tell Christians today that the same message. Christians must let God's life, light and love shine out of them.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
1. Life Is Too Short Gen. 47:9
How often have we said, “Life is just too
short.”
Jacob looked back at his 130 years as “few.”
James compares it to a “vapor” or “mist”
(Jas. 4:14)
Maybe we should ask, “Life is too short for
what?”
Or maybe we should ask “what is your life?”
2. Life Is Too Short for Wasting.
• It is important to properly use time (Eph. 5:16; Col. 4:5;
John 9:4)
• Good stewardship pertains to more than possessions –
it involves time.
• May recover lost or wasted possessions, not so with
time.
• Life and time are too precious to waste on:
• Ungodly living (1 Pet. 4:1-5)
• Idleness / freeloading (2 Thess. 3:6-14)
• Brooding in anger, malice and strife (Eph. 4:31-32)
• Efforts to “get even” (1 Pet. 3:9)
3. Life Is Too Short for Aimlessness.
• Christians have been redeemed from
“aimless conduct” (1 Pet. 1:18 - nkj)
• Many have no higher purpose than “let us
eat and drink for tomorrow we die” (1 Cor.
15:32)
• Live only for the moment.
• Have no worthwhile goals for this life and
certainly not for life to come.
4. Life is Too Short for Mediocrity.
• “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy
might” (Eccl. 9:9-10)
• Life is too short to settle for mediocre service.
• “Any job worth doing is worth doing right”
• Can one really settle for being a mediocre Christian?
• Our love for God must be wholehearted (Matt. 22:37)
• Our service to God must be with diligence (Rom. 12:11)
• Our attitude cannot be “what is enough to get me by?”
(2 Pet. 1:8; 1 Cor. 15:58; 2 Cor. 9:6)
5. Life is Too Short for
Shortsightedness.
•Life is too short to have no goal beyond
this life (Luke 12:20)
•A failure to grow spiritually is to be
short sighted (2 Pet. 1:9)
•Life is too short to think only “here and
now” and “me and mine.”
6. Life is Too Short for Procrastination.
• Tomorrow is too uncertain for procrastination (Jas.
4:13-14).
• Need to understand what is put off may not get
done.
• Only put off things of little consequences if not done.
• Some things are too important to put off and risk
their not being done.
• Obedience to the gospel (cf. Acts 8:36-38; 16:33)
• Reconciliation to a brother (Matt. 5:24)
7. Conclusion:
•Can be no doubt, life is too short to waste
it on useless and destructive matters.
•It is too short to put off really important
matters toward God and other people.
•“What is your life?”
•James 4:17
