Fry are small salmon that live in freshwater streams, feeding on insects. 4. Smolt undergo physiological changes to live in salt water, often found in bays with abundant food. 5. Adults live in deeper ocean water, feeding on fish and zooplankton. 6. Spawning adults migrate back to freshwater streams to reproduce and then die.
