Christine De Weerdt: The use of digital media in a new urban history exhibiti...Den Gamle By
Talk held at Urban History Exhibited. Seminar at Den Gamle By in Aarhus, Denmark. 25th October 2011.
Christine De Weerdt, Museum Director STAM – stadsmuseum gent
Abstract:
In 2010, STAM – stadsmuseum gent re-opened after a radical reconstruction of both buildings and permanent exhibitions. The exhibitions make use of digital media on a much larger scale than seen at most other city museums (entire walls covered with screens, 3D-models, and digitally enriched photographs on floors and walls) next to more traditionally curated rooms. What were the intentions, the processes, and the reactions?
European Holocaust Research InfrastructureKVANdagen
European Holocaust Research Infrastructure

Architectural Means of Expression in the Creation of Contemporary Heritage In...Anna Rynkowska-Sachse
Heritage Interpretation Centres are specially created facilities for evaluation of the cultural and/or natural heritage of a given area and its transformation into an educational, cultural or tourism product. Approach to heritage and architectural means of expression in the creation of contemporary Heritage Interpretation Centres and the impact on users, especially European ones, are presented on the example of buildings from South Africa (The Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre, Alexandra Interpretation Centre, Freedom Park). Field studies of selected buildings allowed an assessment of how effective and easy to read the message of cultural heritage was for people from the outside, and by what architectural means it was possible.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Panel Discussion
Cultural heritage is often a silent casualty of
war. Under international law, warring parties
must refrain from any act of hostility directed
against cultural property. However, the history
of war is also the history of the progressive loss
of invaluable treasures, some of which belong
to our collective memory.
Today satellite imagery technology allows an
unbiased look at the consequences of armed
conflicts on cultural sites. UNOSAT, the UNITAR
Operational Satellite Applications Programme,
has recently released a study illustrating the
loss of important heritage across conflict-
stricken Syria.
This Library Talk will guide us through the
articulated international law system for the
protectionofculturalsites,allthewhilerevealing
the dramatic impact of war on monuments and
important sites in Syria, some of which date
back over 4,000 years. The session will also
tackle the importance of preserving archives
and libraries from the rage of war. A debate
with the audience will follow and the experts
will be available to answer questions.
