The Koryo Dynasty ruled Korea from 935 to 1392 CE. General Wang Geon formed the Koryo dynasty after overthrowing the previous kingdom. During the reign of King Seongjong from 981 to 997, a centralized bureaucratic system was established to govern Korea under the Koryo dynasty.
