Singer Pearl Bailey is the subject of director and playwright Art Manke’s compelling new play, “Pearl’s in The House.” While contemplating ideas for his next project, Manke began doing some research on the iconic African American artist, and was surprised to discover that there were no existing plays, films, or even biographies on her life and accomplishments. Fascinated by her life story and achievements, Manke put pen to paper, and “Pearl’s in The House” was born.
Billie Holiday
Billie Holiday was an influential jazz singer who experienced a difficult childhood. Some of her most notable songs included "Strange Fruit" and "Embraceable You." Although she faced legal and health issues later in life, she continued performing and recording until her death in 1959. She inspired many later jazz and pop singers through her emotionally powerful vocal style.

Louis Armstrong was born in 1901 in New Orleans to a poor single mother. He was sent to a boys home where he learned music and became a band leader. He later joined King Oliver's band in Chicago which was very successful. Armstrong helped popularize jazz music and scat singing. He was known as the "King of Jazz" and helped spread jazz music around the world.

El cuento trata sobre un príncipe malhumorado llamado Pedro que solo le gustaban los pepinos. Obligaba a su reino a comer pepinos también aunque a nadie más le gustaban, lo que causó hambre y enfermedades.
