2. Alessia Cara
Alessia Caracciolo is a Canadian singer and songwriter from
Brampton, Ontario, a city just outside of Toronto. She was born on
July 11, 1996. She is professionally known as Alessia Cara. She
wrote poems and did theatre from a young age. She started playing
guitar when she was 10 years old. She also taught herself how to play
various songs. She made her own YouTube channel when she was 13
years old and started posting covers of songs. Her style of music is
pop and R&B.
Cara didn't go straight to college after graduating from high school.
Instead she decided to work on her musical career. However, Cara
didn’t tell anyone in high school that she was seriously perusing
music. She regularly uploaded videos of her covers on YouTube. She
also made appearances on some radio stations such as 15 seconds of
fame on Mix 104.1 Boston. She landed a major recording label with
Def Jam Recordings when she was 18 and released her official debut
single "Here" in April 2015. Def Jam Recordings has worked with
Kanye West, Iggy Azalea and other famous artists.
3. The song “Here” is based on Cara's experience as a person who hates
parties. This song was produced by Pop&Oak and Sebastian Kole and it
featured a sample of Isaac Hayes' "Ike's Rap 2". The song was also
included in the Bilboard's " 20 Pop Songs That You Need For Your
Summer Playlist". Cara performed her debut single on a TV show
called " The tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". She then released "
Four Pink Walls" which is an extended-play. It contains five songs
including her debut single "Here".
Cara has been nominated for and won many awards. “Here” received a
nomination for the "Original Song" at the Streamy Award. She was
awarded as the breakthrough artist of the year at 2016 Juno Awards.
She also won the best performed song in ASCAP pop music awards and
best new Canadian artist in the Much music video awards.
4. Albums
Cara released "Four Pink Walls" as an extended play on August 26,
2015. It contains five songs: "Seventeen", "Here", "Outlaws", "I'm
Yours", and "Four Pink Walls".
Cara released her debut album "Know-It-All" on November 13,
2015. It contains 5 songs: "Wild Things", "Stone", "Overdose",
"Stars", and "Scars To Your Beautiful".
