A newly hired traveling salesman sent his manager a poorly spelled sales report detailing his first successful sale to a new client. Though concerned by the salesman's lack of spelling ability, the manager was impressed when the salesman reported selling half a million dollars worth of goods on his next trip. The company president then sent a message to all sales staff praising the top salesman's results and instructing them to focus on sales over spelling.

“I seen this outfit which they ain’t never bot a dime’s worth of nothing from us
and I sole them some goods. I’m now goin to Chicawgo.”
His boss decided to look into the employment of someone who cannot even
write a correctly spelled sales report. However, the next day he received the
following message from the same sales person:
“I cum hear and sole them haff a millyon.”
Now, his manager did not know what to do, so he raised the issue to the
president. The second day the president of the company sent the following
message to ALL sales department:
“We ben spending two much time trying to spel instead of tryin to sel. Let’s
watch those sails. I want everybody should read these letters from Gooch (the
travelling sales person) who is on the rode doin a grate job for us and you should
go out and do like he done.”
