This is a LESSON PLAN intended for English Subject. I integrate filmstrips during instruction so the students can imaginatively grasp the idea i am transporting to them.

1. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the class
discussion, the students shall
have been able to:
 Define Metaphor
 Identify the metaphors used in
the poem
 Relate experiences from the
given poem

3. The mother is the light of the home.
The son is the fruit of parent’s love.

4. METAPHOR
A metaphor is a figure of speech that
identifies something as being the same
as some unrelated thing for rhetorical
effect, thus highlighting the similarities
between the two.

5. Every Metaphor may be changed to a
simile and every simile to a metaphor. A
metaphor is briefer, swifter, and livelier than
the simile. The metaphor is a condensed
simile.

6. EXAMPLES
I was lost in the sea of nameless faces.
The wheels of justice turn slowly.

10. MOTHER TO SON

11. EVALUATION
INSTRUCTION: In a ½ sheet of
paper, relate your most unforgettable
experience and inspiring advice from
your parent or guardian. Use metaphor in
describing the situation.

12. ASSIGNMENT
INSTRUCTION:
Compose a poem that expresses the
child’s response to mother. Write it in a ½
sheet of paper.
