  7. The influence of Media and information has on us, because they been the very vital part of our everyday lives. So now lets try to look out how media and information influence the different asset of the world that we are living right now. (NEXT SLIDE)
  8. Let us now focus on Media and Information in Education. (NEXT SLIDE)
  9. Before the absent of modern technology of course books as sources of information are already there, Students spend time reading on libraries (NEXT SLIDE)
  10. Back then students also enjoy watching educational content on the television You would probably familiar with this following shows when you grew up. (NEXT SLIDE)
  11. Sesame street which a lot Filipino learn how to speak English.
  12. When computers were made available education sectors where the first one to get them and used them for studying, students now could access computers, students could access internet. Etc. (NEXT SLIDE)
  13. Many of our Physical media information resources back then were also digitized so right now instead of having full sets of encyclopaedia on our library we could access them in them in the internet, such as: WIKIPEDIA, BRITANICA ONLINE and WILEY and a lot more. (NEXT SLIDE)
  14. And of course because of pandemic digital and technological literacy has been emphasized specially for educators, Many educators had to defend on their laptop on their physical computers to continue delivering education. (NEXT SLIDE)
  15. Attending on online classes in the concept of synchronous and asynchronous had become popular specially at this time, we used video conferencing platforms applications programs and websites just to continue the delivery of education. (NEXT SLIDE)
  16. Learners could defend on their gadgets, there are student not only learn on their gadgets but also they access to their educational resources, such as Tablets, Mobile phones etc. However there are of course down side to the use of technology and computer in education for Example because of online classes it is difficult to motivate students. (NEXT SLIDE)
  17. There is also the problem with information overload, ( Student find difficult to absorbed the information because they presented so much of it in so little time) (NEXT SLIDE)
  18. Because of the availability of information online it is easier for the students to commit plagiarism, it is common right for the students to defend the works of others that have published online, sometimes completely copying and pasting their work and claiming it as their own. Because if this we are vulnerable in disinformation, mal information, Also many of us claim that tiktok video are credible sources of information which is NOT ALWAYS TRUE.(NEXT SLIDE)
  19. Let us now Proceed to……..Economic Opportunities for many Filipino through employment found in BPO industries. BPO has become the biggest contributor in our country’s gross domestic product (GDP)
  20. Media and information has an economic of its own, and is this work (CLICK) In the consumption of media and information ratings is actually matters so the higher the ratings are the higher the revenue is, let us define the two terms (NEXT SLIDE)
  21. Rating is simply mean (Read the Definition) it’s the number of people engaging trying to interact with the content that you published online, the higher the number of people watching your content, the higher the ratings are. (NEXT SLIDE)
  22. This is the amount of money that is coming to your account because of what you have done or probably because of what you have sold to the public or because of what you have given to the consumers, (NEXT SLIDE)
  23. Because of many improvement in terms of technology and availability of information online many of the activities that we used physical have been digitized, so what those it mean? It means that things we do physical can be done online, Example is shopping before we nee to go the Mall to buy something. But now we have shopping portal such as, shopee, lazada, zalora, (NEXT SLIDE)
  24. Because of the availability of those platforms many sellers and many entrepreneur now ventures into online selling. You would notice that they also distinct the we so called live selling right now.(NEXT SLIDE)
  25. And because of all those development, of all those improvement on the way that we shop many consumers find it now so much easier spend money on goods and services. .(NEXT SLIDE)
  26. Aside from shopping there are also other companies have exploited the power of technology and media information this includes ……….(click)…… All of this things have made more convenient to consumers to access goods and services. .(NEXT SLIDE)
  27. Our banking systems have also improve and develop throughout the years. Right now the online transaction the we do physically can be done thru your mobile phone. .(NEXT SLIDE) .
  28. Currently there are also the we refer to as a digital bank such as……. .(NEXT SLIDE) .
  29. Electronic wallet or digital cash is also very popular right now……. .(NEXT SLIDE) .
  30. Many of you probably are also involved in crypto currency such as…. ……. .(NEXT SLIDE) .
  31. Because of improve means of communication as well, it is now more convenient to work from home .(NEXT SLIDE) .
  32. There are also people who made and living out of the use of media information and technology, we have those famous bloggers which have utilized and harness the power followers and likes on different platform such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook , and right now tiktok . These people made a lot of money and made this particular activity as main source of their income. (NEXT SLIDE) .
  33. Just like of many change and improvement in our society many of people are vulnerable in hacking (NEXT SLIDE) .
  34. Let us nor Proceed to……..
  35. Because of the accessibility of computers, mobile phones and internet there is an abundance right of many different application, mobile applications and different social media platforms to media consumers. (NEXT SLIDE) .
  36. These platforms have enable easier communication, easier access to information within and among our society as well, it also helps strengthen relationships and even helps build connection among the population. (NEXT SLIDE) .
  37. Media information and technology have also been vital in mobilizing the population.. (NEXT SLIDE) .
  38. Because of technology it is easier for us to become more aware of the different issues concerning members of our society, it also become easier for us to become advocates for these causes. (NEXT SLIDE) .
  39. Therefore allowing us to become more active member of the society not only that, media information and technology have also highlighted the importance of voluntarism and activism in our society (NEXT SLIDE) .
  40. With the availably and easy access to different forms of media and technology it is easy for us to participate in what is happening in the world around us, many people actually through media and technology get report what is happening, specially the injustices happening around us, these what we called … CLICK,………(NEXT SLIDE) .
  41. Read the Definition ……… When we reporting what is happening around us thoughtfully and factually then would be considered citizen journalism, when we engage in news and information that is considered citizen journalism.(NEXT SLIDE) .
  42. There are also pitfalls advancements to this developments so take for example because of social media particularly, many people live double lives. What do you mean by that? The persona that they present in real life is very different from the personality that they present in their virtual life accounts.(NEXT SLIDE) .
  43. There are also a lot of people who make a living out of perpetuating misinformation and mal information in our society, They earn a lot of money from trolling other accounts from creating fake news, from creating divisiveness in our society. (NEXT SLIDE) .
  44. Media and information and technology are all very important in our society and particularly to our government. Why? Because these could be platforms wherein the government could communicate with the people. For Example (NEXT SLIDE)
  45. Our very own government has there own TV news channel they also have their very own website wherein people could have read what is happening all about the government, their projects, their platforms etc. (NEXT SLIDE)
  46. Many government offices around the world have also harness the power of social media through …. (CLICK)….. Read the definition… Example: there are embassy’s around the world, there are government agencies around the world, that have their own Facebook pages, that have their own Instagram accounts, they get to inform people living abroad , also the public official have their own social media accounts. (NEXT SLIDE)
  47. Aside from those downfalls and pitfall we also (Click)
  48. for example stereotyping is very rampant in different media formats, (read the meaning.) For example in movies there is a lot of stereotype that are being presented even in this age and time , for example the concept of the stereotype of the gum blonde (NEXT SLIDE)
  49. Another issue is the issue of GENDER ROLES in media, this issue stands from (read the Meaning) For example: advertisement related to home product, you would often see women in those product ads. Instead of men, because many believes that the role women in our society in confined at the home. (NEXT SLIDE)
  50. There is also racial profiling and discrimination so its basically (read the definition) . Black people of color etc. (NEXT SLIDE)
  51. It is inevitable for media personalities to get involve in other endeavours, however sometimes there conflicts with what they do and they want to do or what the want to accomplished, in this situational personal and or financial obligations or interest compete specially with the journalist to responsibility to his outlet and audience is called conflict of interest, this is particular to media personalities who has particular responsibilities to be factual to be truthful to their audience. ( Example NOLI de Castro, Resign when he run as a V-Pres.) (NEXT SLIDE)
  52. Accountability is also very essential not only for consumers or users of media information and technology but also for creators of different media outputs. (Read the Meaning) (NEXT SLIDE)
  53. Accountability is also very essential not only for consumers or users of media information and technology but also for creators of different media outputs. (Read the Meaning) this usually conducted by the government itself, Example: is what is happening in Russia, many different news outlet that are reporting about the war between Russia and Ukraine are being shutdown. (NEXT SLIDE)
