6 th  Amendment states that… Speedy Trail-  the federal government can not hold you in jail for a long period of time without bringing you to trial Public   Trial-  the government can not try you in secret. Your trial must be open for the public, and there must be a public record of the proceedings. Impartial jury-  the government must try you before a jury, and it can not try you before a jury that is prejudiced.  Location of the Trail-  the government must try you in the state, district, or community where the crime was committed.   
Continued… Information on Charges-  the government can not arrest you and hold you for trial without telling you why they are doing so. Confronting Witnesses-  your and your lawyer have the right to confront and cross examine all witnesses against you.  Favorable Witnesses-  the government can not prevent you from presenting witnesses who might testify for you. Assistance of Council-  the government can not prevent you from having a lawyer defend you from the time you are named as a suspect .
Right to Counsel Every person accused of a felony has the right to be represented by a lawyer Those too poor to hire a lawyer will have one appointed to them by the court
Limitations: 8 th  Amendment Limitations on Judiciary : Judges have the power to decide if a person gets bail, and for how much Limitations on Legislature : Establishes the range of punishments for breaking laws

Problems with 8 th  Amendment:  BAIL! Unfair treatment of the poor Punishment of Innocent poor Increased chances of conviction and more severe sentenced
Capital Punishment The infliction of the death penalty by a judicial system -  Has been used in the United States from Colonial times-  present
