This document outlines a media studies lesson on the key topic of what media studies is and different media areas. The lesson objectives are for students to research, understand, and analyze key media concepts. As part of the main tasks, students are asked to define media studies, list examples of media areas, and research the history of television, radio, the internet and newspapers by recording three key facts for each in a table. The lesson concludes with a student self-evaluation of their effort level and progress.

Main Task 1 - Answer the following questions
1. What is media studies? Write a short definition.
Media studies is a way of connecting to a large amount of
people.
2. Write down between three and five different ‘media areas’.
Examples of media areas are television, film, radio,
newspapers, magazines and music.
3. Write down the four expectations for Media Studies lessons
Follow academy rules at all times.
Be silent when either a teacher or a student is talking.
Turn your monitor off when told to.
Use your full effort at all times.
