Week of November 3,2014
Lecture: Conclusion of Chapter 8 - 10, pg. 76 – 97.
1. Colleges of law and business closed at the time when Woodson felt they were needed
the most.
2. When white entrepreneurs didn’t want to partner with blacks they simply avoided
completing or delayed applications and contracts.
3. Skilled blacks who trained in drafting, engineering, architecture, and chemistry were
threatened by whites, and by those of their own racial identity.
4. Black entertainers were mostly a group of untrained singers and comedians.
5. People who hire blacks must accept the reality of their racial identity, and their social
makeup in America: “as he or she is and where he or she is.”
6. There was a time in our history when black students were not allowed to use history
books that included the Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution.
7. Black were terrorized and became afraid to discuss their own point of view of political
matters in the community.
8. If you ever want to see white-race community dysfunction, identify whites who are trying
to help people of color.
9. A black inspirational leader was one who didn’t discuss politics, or our justice systems.
10. Blacks of yesteryears had more courage for “newness” than modern African-
Americans.
