This document outlines a study on the concept of social capital in post-conflict Sri Lanka. Social capital is defined as the emotional capital accumulated through social networks built on trust, understanding and reciprocity. The study aims to understand how social capital functions in Sri Lanka, specifically looking at its role in reconciliation among youth groups. It discusses the theories of social capital put forth by Bourdieu, Coleman and Putnam. The study will examine whether and how social capital is being used in Sri Lanka for reconciliation, what is effective, and how it can be improved, using case studies of student groups as examples.
