2.  Arunachalam Muruganantham (Padman) is a social
entrepreneur from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, India. He is
the inventor of low-cost sanitary pad-making machine and is
credited for innovating grassroots mechanisms for
generating awareness about traditional unhygienic practices
around menstruation in rural India.

6. FIRST ATTEMPT:
“JUGAAD”
(EXPLORE)
 first pad was made of
cotton.
Tried this Pad on her
wife.
The pad failed.
 Still he didn’t give up.

7. • SECOND
ATTEMPT :
 Laxmi tries to get
feedback from
medical students
but they refused
to use his pads.
 Laxmi tries to
help a girl in his
neighbor but gets
brutally trolled.

8.  THIRD ATTEMPT :
His wife requests him to
not try this experiment on
anyone else except her.
Laxmi in his third attempt
failed again.
But with every attempt,
the only thing he was
succeeding at was EICE
(Explore, Ideate, Create,
and Evolve)

9.  Fourth Attempt :
(IDEATE)
 This time Laxmi tries
his pads on himself.
 And again fails
miserably.
 This time he was also
banished from his
village.
 His wife left him.
 His family hated him
after this incident.
 He was left all alone.

11. • He went to colleges to seek
knowledge of how a Pad is made
 He also has to work in a
professor’s house for
seeking knowledge
 He finally knows about
Cellulose fiber with the help
of Google.
• Jugaad: He ordered a sample of Cellulose
fiber via faking a big company behind the order.
CREATE AND
EVOLVE :

12. This time he used cellulose
fiber instead of Cotton.
He made separate machines
for each process.
He was finally successful in
making Sanitary pads that
were cost-effective.
