2. Overview
• During February all students are required to
‘Leap into the Deep’ by reading Offline for a
minimum of 30 minutes to gain greater
understanding for project in any class.
Students will generate their own questions to
ask as they read and report back the results
of their reading.
• Student documentation is Due February 29th
and will be graded by Mr. Krasnoff for a grade
in World Geo Lit (Work Ethic and Written
Communication)
3. Schedule
• Student notified of ‘Leap into the Deep’
requirement in late January by Librarian
• Students reminded of requirement by
English teachers on Weekly basis on
Monday’s in February.
• In final full week of February students that
have not completed will be notified
individually.
• Grading Complete on March 2.
4. Process
1. Students will download Leap into the Deep Template
and identify the following in Part 1:
1. The subject and project their reading will focus on
2. The driving questions for their reading
2. Student asks teacher of subject identified in Part 1
permission to “Leap into the Deep.” If meets
approval, student will get 30 minute timed pass to
library to research or read.
3. Upon completion of reading, student completes Part
II of document by explaining progress on answering
driving questions
4. Last requirement is Google form survey on how well
Deep reading helped with assignment.
5. Grading Standards
• Work Ethic grade
• Minimum 30 minutes =79
• 60 Minutes =89
• Read complete book or more than 25 pages in articles =100
• Failure to complete final survey -10
• Failure to submit document -30
• Shows documentation of reading within completed project to
Librarian +10
• Written Communication grade
• Quality of driving questions
• Quality of answers to driving questions
• Evidence of successful reading, summarized main points of
reading material
