BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 6:39-44
 He also told them this parable: "Can a blind man lead a
blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 A student is
not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will
be like his teacher. 41 "Why do you look at the speck of
sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the
plank in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother,
'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you
yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite,
first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see
clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. NIV

EFFECTIVE LEADER HAS REVELATION
 By revelation we mean vision. First we must have encountered Christ and discovered our purpose in life.
 Vision is the ability to see. It is a mental picture, an image or concept in the imagination. It is far-
sightedness or the ability to anticipate possible future events and developments. It can also imply series of
images seen in a dream or trance, often interpreted as having religious, revelatory, or prophetic
significance. Vision is a mental conception of what, why, where, when and how of what one wants to
achieve or bring into reality. It is a mental imagination of desired expectation.
 PURPOSE DEFINED
 Purpose is the reason for which something exists or for which it has been done or made. It is the desired
effect, the goal or intended outcome of something. It is determination, the desire or the resolve necessary
to accomplish a goal. Purpose is what God wants you to do in life. it is the primary and central cause for
creation and existence.
 Vision is the mental imagination and conception of purpose while purpose is the practical awareness or
knowing of God determined counsel and cause for your life, i.e. what He wants you to be and do.
EFFECTIVE

solving, especially in difficult situations. It is to be inventive, possessing cleverness, and

 RESOURCEFULNESS FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT Luke 6:39-40
 Becoming a master is when a disciple is fully trained. The capacity of a student increases by learning. A student who is
not learning can never grow to become like his master. The difference between the master and the student is
knowledge. Any student that wants to become like his teacher must engage in serious learning of the principles that
made his teacher. As he does that, he himself will also become a teacher. It is not a magic but a process. This can be
achieved in the following ways;
 1. Personal reading
 2. Exposure to formal trainings
 3. Engaging in informal trainings- fellowship
 4. Engaging in personal discipleship with a human discipler
 5. Listening to messages
 6. Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?
 7. A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
 8. first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
 Knowledge is the greatest tool for personal empowerment and great achievement. Investment in knowledge is
investment in future. Readers ends as leaders.
EFFECTIVE
EFFECTIVE LEADER IS RESTRAINING
 1 Cor 9:24-27
 In a race everyone runs, but only one person gets first prize. So run your race to win. 25 To win the
contest you must deny yourselves many things that would keep you from doing your best. An
athlete goes to all this trouble just to win a blue ribbon or a silver cup, but we do it for a heavenly
reward that never disappears. 26 So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to
win. I'm not just shadow-boxing or playing around. 27 Like an athlete I punish my body, treating
it roughly, training it to do what it should, not what it wants to. Otherwise I fear that after
enlisting others for the race, I myself might be declared unfit and ordered to stand aside. TLB
 Self-control is the ability to regulate one’s emotion, thought, appetite and behavior in the
face of temptation and impulses. It is the ability to subdue our temporal inordinate impulses
in order to achieve both short and long-term goals. Rather than yielding to immediate
impulses that profits or edify, one can plan, evaluate alternative action and often avoid
doing things he/she will later regret. The ability to exert self-control is called will power. Self-
control is the quality that allows you to stop yourself from doing what you want to do but
that might not be in your best interest. Without self-control it is difficult to go far in life.

 4. A man without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken-down walls. Prov 25:28
 5. It is a route to the path of life, success or good life. Prov. 6;23

EFFECTIVE
PRINCIPLES FOR PERSONAL RESTRAINING
 1. Discipline is personal
 2. Discipline is a deliberate choice of violating personal pleasure and privileges
or even pains as to attain a higher godly objective.
 3. Discipline is towards an aim or objective
 a) To save or win as many as possible
 b) It is for the sake of the gospel
 c) That he might share in the blessing of the gospel
 d) To win a prize

AN EFFECTIVE LEADER IS RESULT ORIENTED
 Life is all about what you sow you reap. Nothing happens for nothing. The law of cause and effect holds in
every aspect of life. A farmer who wants a bumper harvest will first take the diligence of preparing his land
and all the necessary things for the farm. His preparation is what will determine his harvest.
 If we are going to be fruitful in life, it will not be by chance. There are certain things that must be on
ground before growth can take place. If we neglect those things, then we are set to harvest thorns.
 Result is something that follows as a consequence of another action, condition, or event. Result oriented
means focusing on the outcome of a task or project, rater than the process used to complete it.
 Being results-oriented involves concentrating on achieving clear, measurable goals. It's a way of thinking
and working where employees
