Anthony wrote the average investor should be checking out the ca.docxrossskuddershamus
Anthony wrote: "the average investor should be checking out the cash flows statement in general to understand the general trend and solidity of a company. Accrual basis data doesn't give nearly as much foresight into future projections of how a company". As indicated in Anthony's response, the statement of cash flows shows the uses and sources of: cash during for the operating, investing, and financing activities of a company. The balance sheet and income statement are prepared using the accrual basis of accounting.
The statement above regarding the investor's assessment of the general trend and solidity of a company is assuming that all cash transactions are correctly classified as operating, investing or financing activities on the statement of cash flows. Take a look at the ethics case presented in BYP 12-9 that appears in the Broadening Your Perspective section at the end of Chapter 12 in the WileyPLUS Readings or on page 683 in the eBook version. The ethics case provides additional information than presented below, which are the key points of the case.
The board policy requires the statement of cash flows for Templeton Automotive shows that net cash from operating activities exceeds $1 million dollars. However, the net cash from operating activities amounts to $970,000. The president of the company asks Nick, the controller if there is any way to increase the operating cash flows by $30,000 or more.
"Upon close scrutiny of the statement of cash flows, Nick concludes that he can get the operating cash flows above $1 million by reclassifying a $60,000, 2-year note payable listed in the financing activities section as "Proceeds from bank loan--$60,000." He will report the note instead as "Increase in payables--$60,000" and treat it as an adjustment of net income in the operating activities section." (Kimmel, 2013)
Class, how does the misclassification of a financing activity as an operating activity on the statement of cash flows impact the decision making process of an external user as to the financial status of the company?

ABSTRACT
The famous playbook of Vince Lombardi - the most renowned football coach of all time and a source of inspiration
and wisdom for many corporate and political leaders in America - was based on one core idea: that a limited
number of simple plays, coupled with intensive training on situational variations, could transform a team. Applied
to the world of C-suite executives, Lombardi's playbook offers a unique window into the underpinnings of
leadership. A leadership playbook is executable, scalable, integrated and robust. A playbook allows you and your
team to focus, interpret events and act even in very complex environments. A version of an executive's playbook is
presented. The first section defines where to go - what changes should occur and what should stay the same.

The famous playbook of Vince Lombardi--the most renowned football coach of all time and a source of inspiration
and wisdom for many corporate and political leaders in America--was based on one core idea: that a limited
number of simple plays, coupled with intensive training on situational variations, could transform a team. Applied
to the world of C-suite executives, Lombardi's playbook offers a unique window into the underpinnings of
leadership.
A leadership playbook is executable, scalable, integrated and robust. A playbook allows you and your team to
focus, interpret events and act even in very complex environments. Based on everything I have learned and
experienced in leadership, here is my version. I hope you'll use this as a starting point to develop a playbook of
your own.
Section I: Strategy
The first section defines where you want to go--what changes should occur and what you want to stay the same.
Page 1: Problem and Goal Definition Describe on one page the past, the present and the future states to be
achieved, why these changes are important, and the key performance indicators that will tell you if they've been
accomplished.
Page 2: Control and Timing There are always several different workable strategies to achieve a goal, and they are
often heavily dependent on timing. If you're in a hurry and have competitors outflanking you, your strategic options
differ tremendously from a situation where you are in control and have plenty of time. The secret to great timing is
a combination of perspective and situational awareness.
Page 3: Credibility and Realism In leadership, the messenger is as important as the message. The realism of your
point of view, the manner in which you present it, the language you use and your reputation as a leader all come
together to support--or degrade-- your credibility. I try to emulate the motto of Lord Browne, group chief executive
of BP: humanity, humility and humor.

Autocratic Leadership and Qualities of a Good Leader
Introduction
Maintain your relevance and stay adaptable in today's time in an ever-changing environment? Become a better leader by learning how to efficiently adapt to change yourself accordingly. Adoption is the most important key to success in entrepreneurships.
Big changes of adoption happened in the past in the smartphone industry. Before Android started in smartphones, at that time it was the most popular Nokia brand. But when the Android operating system started in the smartphones officially. The key decision in Android history was Google's commitment to make Android an open-source operating system. That allowed it to become highly popular with third-party phone makers. Just a few years after the launch of Android 1.0, smartphones powered by the new OS were everywhere.
Autocratic Leadership and Democratic Leadership aren't good for a company, in leadership a person's combination of both in great leadership. Qualities of a Good Leader, that makes a person Good leader in entrepreneurship.
Leadership is not just about achieving company goals, and making the company profitable and focusing on business stability. In a business, leaders who are the main key person who decides the company or organizational future and contribute to achieving company goals and visions. How much a company will become successful totally depends on a business leader, who leads the company commands.
Leadership responsibility, solving the huge problems and focusing on solutions. Those are mainly focused on problem solving approaches. And a solution oriented person in a company. That person takes the responsibility of a company. Regarding company growth, company profitability, company stability.
In today's society we need to require a different set of skills than it did in the past. It's undeniable that social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok have dominated and changed the way we compete in the business landscape. With a sea of competitors, it now matters how we present ourselves online and how we create experiences that are attractive to our clients and customers.
Although some leadership skills, qualities and leadership habits remain the same, refusing to adapt to the current norm will make it difficult for a leader to stay in the game. Most challenging: how do we adapt to change in this fast-paced digital world? But how do we keep up and stay relevant as a leader?
In November 2009 Lander Associates held a Leadership Symposium which comprised of fourteen business professionals with a range of backgrounds: recruitment; HR; finance; academia and consultancy who met to exchange views on the challenges and opportunities posed by a new decade – and to share ideas on how to successfully manage those challenges and opportunities.
Lander Associates has produced a white paper detailing the challenges leaders face and looking forward to 2010 and beyond.
As a result of this symposium we developed a brand new suite of leadership courses which focus on the real skills needed by front line managers/team leaders post recession. We then partnered with Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to become an Approved Centre. This means we can now offer the only recruitment specific, international leadership qualification.
