4. Challenge: Stretch your leadership style. Shift from the Golden Rule (operating in your default
style and giving others what you prefer) to the Platinum Rule (giving others what they prefer).
Recap from Session #2: Leadership Styles
5. Survey Feedback from Session #2
Fantastic
• Very engaging!
• Finding leadership leaning opportunities on the
fringe of my comfort zone
• Everything was fantastic about this day. I came with
an open mind unsure of what the day would truly be
filled with and left empowered with a knowledge of
my peers and my inner goals a little more clear.
• The facilitators, the venue, the food, the
camaraderie with small group
• Everything! I especially liked the leadership styles
discussion.
Frustrating
• Maybe a few more breaks? nothing else!
• It started off a little slow in the morning, but then
the pace picked up.
• I didn’t find anything about the day frustrating. To
some no cell service may have been frustrating,
however it was nice to disconnect for a day.
• So many voices in the main room and difficult
hearing while in small groups
• I found nothing frustrating. However if I think about
it too deeply my only comment would be that the
cheesecake slices were cut a bit too small. Lol (I
would’ve liked a larger slice of that delicious
cheesecake!)
6. Small Miracle Pitches
What: Each partner/group will have 4 minutes to pitch the local nonprofit they believe should be the Leadership 2022
beneficiary.
When: Thursday, June 9, 2022 (next session, Session #4)
How: Four-minute pitch presentation (most use power point slides) to communicate four critical elements:
• The Organization: Tell us the “who, what, and why,” i.e., who is this organization (name), what do they do (mission),
and why do they do it (why is this a relevant and timely matter to address?
• The Need: Tell us what the local nonprofit organization needs to be successful?
• The Amount: Tell us how much you hope the class will raise to meet this organization’s needs.
• The Action: Tell us how you recommend the class raise the funds.
Duration: 4 minutes
Logistics: Please bring your slides on a thumb drive (and email me your slides the day before so I have a back-up copy
for you.)
Reminder: Small Miracles is a group project designed to help you develop as a leader while also getting more informed,
connected, and engaged in the local community. The objective is to raise at least $1,500 ($500 for a local nonprofit
organization and $1,000 towards a partial scholarship for next year’s cohort.
