1. The document provides background information on John the Apostle and discusses symbols and themes found in the Book of Revelation such as the seven seals, the Lion of Judah representing Jesus Christ, the slain lamb representing Jesus, and the four horsemen possibly representing conquest, war, famine and death.
2. It then presents a game where participants are given a list of symbols and must determine what each represents based on passages from Revelation 5-6, such as the twelve horns and eyes on the lamb representing the twelve apostles.
3. The document aims to help readers better understand symbols and themes in Revelation through providing context on John and an interactive game involving key symbols and events.

Dr. John Oakes is taught a class on Answering the Hard Questions at the 2015 International Christan Evidence Conference at York College in York, Nebraska, June 19-21. He gave a brief overview of the Christian world view before launching into the Christian answer to the questions both believers and non-believers often struggle with, such as the Trinity, the problem of evil, the problem of suffering, the problem of violence in the Old Testament and the problem of Hell. Notes and power point are here:
Jesus and Christian Apologetics. A class taught by John Oakes PhD 9/26/09, on question, Who is Jesus Christ and evidence that the real Jesus is the Jesus of the gospels. See the notes below and the attached Power Point.
This power point was used by Dr. John Oakes as a follow-up lesson at the 2012 ICEC in Los Angeles on October 21, 2012. It is about the reasons the church in the first three centuries was able to conquer the known world for Jesus and a suggestion of how faithful Christians today can see the same thing happen in our world.
Inspiration and Inerrancy: A Power Point on How We Got the Bible, on supposed Bible contradictions and errors and on the Apocrypha. By John Oakes, first given in Manila 1/16/2010.
This is a presentation given by Dr. John Oakes in Hong Kong 1/11/2012. John acknowledges that, although all the notes and power point are his, many of the thoughts come from a similar presentation by Dr. Douglas Jacoby at the 2011 ARS Christian evidences conference. Audio will be in the ARS store soon.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Revelation
6:12-13
Book of revelationâwriting about the end of daysâNephi has a vision of the wrapping of scenes of this world and is about to write them and the angel comes and stops him and so no-it's not your job; somebody else will do that
why would that fall to John to write? PERHAPS because he will be here to witness it; keys given to him
like Moroni brought forth the BOM because he was entrusted with that job
Why is it so difficult to read the Book of Revealation? do you ever feel like this video?
What? of course Joseph can say that because he was a revealatorâ Joseph the Revealtor like John the revelator
Listen John gives us 4 things @ the beginning that tells us what we need to do
John gives a unique description of the Saviorâlet;s see what we can learn fro thisâNOT your typical image fond in our homes.
John goes onto describe these 7 churches and some of the things they are experiencing; gives them advice and counselâit's important to remember ALL are members. Here's some of the things they are dealing with
Which church are you like? maybe you could go back and read some of the advice given to them that could help you today
Iwaas going to leave the 7 churches discussion right there but last night in the temple i was alone in the celestial room and I felt very prompted to share something else
I notices this exact phrase repeated 7x in these chapters discussing the churches
these are just possible Symbols or intrpretations to consider; I'm not saying that these ae the ONLY symbols--disclaimer
Why are these good reprenters for the apostles?what determinew where the horns go? an
apostle is also a seer so eyes are a really good reprentation for them
wears a crown on his head showing he wants power and gory for himself
he carries a sword on a red horse
the third horseman is on a black horse and has a scale in his handâmeasuring our
last horseman is a sickly greenâinteresting that it all follows in sequence 1-4; someone want power, then there is war, famine is sure to follow and the death and disease
when the 5th seal is opened souls cried out from under the altarâALL those that have died in the name of JESUS; ALL TH EARLY APOSTLES EXCEPT JOHN OF COURSE, ABINDAI,STEPHEN,JPOSEPH ANF HYRUM
now there could be a literal earthquake, should we watch the richter scale
this could be literal but it could also be poeticâ if that were the case it would represent
spiritual darkness; literally taking away ALL sources of light available in John's day.
One answer we haven't used yet and that is the most important question in the Book of Revelation
are you ready for it? Who shall be able to stand in the last days? with all of these earthquakes, falling stars, bloody moons and wars
John gives some very good answers to who these people areâstudy them
