It is an organization that is dedicated to the commitment of social justice in the poor and the suffering communities. This commitment is spread worldwide through the aid and corporation of volunteers and experienced staff.
Volunteering with the Global Adventure Safaris
The Global Adventure Safaris offers Short term and long term volunteering and internships for skilled and unskilled, professionals and students who want to make a difference in the poor and underprivileged communities around the world. Working along side partner NGO’s volunteers will find themselves in the field working in Schools, Hospitals, orphanages, monasteries, community and government aid and advice centers.

La Gonave Community and Child Association (LGCCA) was created by a group of friends following a visit by the founder to La Gonave Island in March of 2012. Ailsa Young, an RN from Vancouver, BC, had been invited to visit La Gonave Island by Jean Rony Toussaint, the Chairman of a Haitian grassroots charity ASHOG while volunteering at a hospital in Port au Prince the previous year. Her testimonial from that visit can be viewed at www.helplagonave.org. Upon return to Canada LGCCA was formed and given Non Profit status. The application for Charitable status is in progress.

3. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE
SCHOOL
The “Santiago Ramón y Cajal” is a building of the European
Centre of Rural information and Promotion ( C.E.I.P.) It was built in
the 70s on land provisionally giving by the Patronage. Today it still
stands and functions in El Polvorín, one of the most socially and
culturally disadvantaged areas from the capital of Gran Canaria.
The students that attend this centre, in general, have big social
problems, which creates frequent disruptions and lack of motivation
towards their studies.
Family disintegration is one of the main reasons for these social
difficulties; the family structure is usually irregular; young single
mothers, single parent families, adpted children, 3 generation-
families, etc. All these are, without a doubt, issues aggressiveness,
insecurity, low self-steem, lack of motivation and educational failure.
4. These children and teenagers daily live in an environment
of drug addiction, unemployment, poverty and lack of
resources. The economic suation of their families is, in
general, precarious. The majority does not even have
regular or enough incomes to cover basic needs.
Generally, the inhabitans of El Polvorín isolate themselves
and don´t take advantage of cultural or social activities or
possibilities in spite of living downtown, remainig in their
neighbourdhood during their leisure time.
5. OUR CENTER INCLUDES TEACHING
KINDERGARTEN AND PRIMARY
EDUCATION:
Children: From 3 to 5 years
Primary: ranges from 6 to 12 years.
There are 110 students approximately.
We have school breakfast service from 8:00 am.
We also have a school meal: from 14:00 pm
