This document discusses the politicization of religion in Malaysian inter-religious discourse through the use of language. It analyzes two issues: hudud, an Islamic law, which non-Muslims view as unjust; and Christianization, which some Muslims see as a strategy for religious conversion. Politicians have politicized these issues by emphasizing sensitive religious keywords to divide communities for political gain. While language focuses on literal meaning, interpretation is influenced by prejudice and suspicion between religious groups. The politicization of religious issues through language has increased tensions in Malaysian society.
