3. CIDADINHA E CIDADÃO - KIDS MAKING CITIES
ARCHITECTURE AND CITY WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN
This project is the result of my professional experience as an architect
and urban designer in conjunction with my previous working with children.
Covering different stages, from theoretical classes to mockup creation,
involving the drawing up of sketches, the child has the opportunity to
understand the process of creating in architecture. In going through this
process, children learn how to apply the concept of planning to any activity,
supporting their academic development. The pilot of this project was applied
at the Antoni Gaudi School in Barcelona, Spain.
I strongly believe that citizens should not only be the users of a city, but
above all, they should be the creators of it! The development of a city
should be a jointly work, a tripod between the government, technicians and
users. To reach the desired level of community engagement, developing a
critical eye from the beginning is fundamental. In this process, stimulating
all citizens – including children, highlighting their importance as users of
the city –, and raising awareness among the government and technicians
that citizens of all ages should be listen and invited to participate, it’s
mandatory. Understanding that we are all part of a unique urban organism
is the goal of these workshops!

Volunteering is one of my biggest interests. Throughout my professional
life I have sought to integrate my technical skills as an architect and
urban designer with multiple social actions developed by NGOs that aim to
generate positive impact and improve the living conditions of vulnerable and
underprivileged communities. In this scenario, it is worthy to highlight my
contribution as part of a team of architects that developed, in partnership
with the Abrace Solidário and the Douglas Andreani Foundation, the design
and implementation of community equipment such as primary school in the
city of Campinas-SP.
In parallel, I have been volunteering in several events, in a range of
nature and scales, among which stand out the 48H Barcelona Open House
