Laboratory Safety
THE MISSION
In fulfilling the role of a high school science educator, a
teacher candidate must demonstrate safe laboratory
practices in the classroom and establish level-appropriate
laboratory procedures and safety rules for students to follow.

            MISSION OBJECTIVES
In order to accomplish this important mission, the student
teacher must
Model safe, responsible behavior when performing
chemical demonstrations and conducting experiments.
Select level-appropriate investigations that minimize health
and safety risks to students.
Identify safety rules and protocols that apply to the specific
school setting and articulate those rules and protocols to
students at the beginning of the school year.
Consistently enforce safety rules and protocols.
