“Apadrina el ingreso y el tratamiento de los niños con desnutrición severa de Etiopía”
En Etiopía, el 52% de los niños menores de 5 años presenta una desnutrición moderada o severa, amenazando su vida.
El Hospital Rural de Gambo, ubicado al sur del país, atiende a los niños con desnutrición severa de la región proporcionando el ingreso, la alimentación y el tratamiento necesarios. Además, también se ocupa de niños afectados de otras enfermedades prevalentes como la malaria severa, deshidratación, neumonía, tuberculosis, sida, …
Algunos trabajadores del Hospital de Granollers, a raíz de las experiencias reportadas a la vuelta de un viaje a la zona de nuestro compañero Iñaki Alegría, conscientes de las necesidades y carencias del Hospital de Gambo y a través de una relación directa con las personas de la región, nos hemos unido para crear la Asociación “Alegria amb Gambo” (inscrita en el Registro de Asociaciones de la Generalitat de Catalunya), y por medio de esta hemos iniciado el proyecto “Apadrina el ingreso y el tratamiento de los niños con desnutrición severa de Etiopía”.
Queremos establecer esta relación basándonos en la idea del “Teaming” o micro- donaciones, que consiste en la donación mensual de solo 1 €.
Este proyecto permitirá asumir los costes del ingreso y tratamiento de estos niños, siguiendo los protocolos de renutrición establecidos por la UNICEF i la OMS (Organización Mundial de la Salud).
“No podemos permitir que continúen existiendo niños/as de 2 años de vida que pesen 6 Kg y que midan 76 centímetros de los pies a la cabeza, con un perímetro braquial de 9 cm. Su peso es menos del 60% del que tendrían que tener.”
Con 3’5 € cubrimos el coste del ingreso y el tratamiento por un día de un niño/a con desnutrición severa, que requerirá una estancia aproximada de unas 3-4 semanas en la unidad de renutrición para su recuperación.
