Curitiba, Brazil implemented several sustainable practices including conserving its historic and natural environment, reducing and safely disposing of waste, providing adequate open spaces, involving local people, and providing an effective public transport system. The city created a Green Belt to prevent urban sprawl, safely incinerated waste to reduce it, and involved citizens to promote sustainability.
